Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer who understands Additive Manufacturing & Product Design, Product Development Specialist to join our creative team at Offish Character Art Studio. The role combines 3D printing, product design, and process optimization with the studio's artistic and character-driven projects. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in 3D modeling, prototyping, and material innovation, with the ability to collaborate across design and fabrication teams.

Key Responsibilities

• 3D Modeling & Design: Create and refine detailed 3D models for props, characters, and installations using SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion, and related tools.
• Additive Manufacturing: Manage the full 3D printing workflow—from material selection and prototyping to testing and production optimization.
• Simulation & Process Optimization: Use simulation software to streamline layouts, workflows, and resource efficiency.
• Prototyping & Fabrication: Collaborate with designers, artists, and fabricators to build functional prototypes and scaled models.
• Material & Process Research: Experiment with innovative materials and manufacturing techniques to expand creative and technical possibilities.
• Project Coordination: Support procurement, inventory management, and logistics for materials used in production.
• Collaboration: Work closely with character designers, model-makers, and robotics engineers to bring creative concepts into physical form.Partner with artists, engineers, and fabricators to ensure quality and feasibility in production.
• Hands-on Making: Build, assemble, and finish prototypes, models, and final pieces using diverse materials (wood, metal, plastics, composites, textiles, etc.).
• Material Exploration: Research and test new materials and techniques to achieve the desired look, strength, and functionality.
• Process Development: Use a mix of manual techniques (cutting, shaping, sculpting, finishing) and digital tools (3D printing, CNC, laser cutting) to fabricate components.
• Design Translation: Work with concept artists and designers to turn sketches and digital models into tangible objects.
• Problem-Solving: Tackle technical challenges during fabrication and suggest creative, practical solutions.
• Project Execution: Support with material sourcing, procurement, and workshop organization.

Required Skills

• Strong expertise in 3D printing and additive manufacturing technologies.
• Certified in Autodesk Fusion and SolidWorks (CSWA, CSWP).
• Proficient in CAD modeling, prototyping, and workflow simulation.
• Knowledge of inventory, procurement, and operations management.
• Strong problem-solving, adaptability, and attention to detail.
• Effective communicator with cross-cultural collaboration experience.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with robotics integration in fabrication and production systems.
• Exposure to character art, model-making, or experiential design projects.character art, props, or set/model fabrication.
• Hands-on experience with new materials and smart factory concepts.
• Multilingual communication ability.
• Strong hands-on skills in model-making, prototyping, and fabrication.

• Adaptability, creativity, and a maker's mindset.
• Knowledge of finishing techniques like painting, coating, and detailing.
• Interest in blending traditional craft with new digital fabrication methods.
