Role & responsibilities

  • Monitor and enforce safety standards in the plant, especially around heat treatment Operations & high-temperature processes.
  • Conduct risk assessments and job safety analysis, especially for mechanical equipment and thermal operations.
  • Identify unsafe acts and conditions, and take immediate corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with local safety regulations (e.g., Factories Act, OSHA).
  • Conduct regular safety training and toolbox talks for workers and operators.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to safety inspections, incident reports, and safety audits.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and production teams to ensure safe working conditions during equipment repair or breakdown.
  • Conduct fire drills and emergency preparedness exercises.
  • Implement and monitor the use of PPE and ensure its adequacy and availability.
  • Investigate accidents or near-miss incidents and suggest preventive measures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to health and safety.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
  • Certification in Industrial Safety (e.g., NEBOSH IGC, Diploma in Industrial Safety).
  • Experience in safety management within manufacturing or thermal processing/heat treatment environment.
  • Good understanding of furnace operation, mechanical systems, and material handling equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management, emergency response, and safety audit procedures.
  • Good communication and report-writing skills.
