Job Summary

The Assistant Professor in Mechatronics Engineering will contribute to teaching, research, and industry collaboration within the Mechatronics program. The role involves delivering high-quality education, mentoring students, and engaging in research and development projects aligned with robotics, automation, and mechatronic systems. The successful candidate will work closely with faculty and industry partners to enhance the program's academic and practical impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Teaching:

• Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Mechatronics Engineering, including but not limited to Robotics, Automation, Control Systems, Mechanical Design, and Embedded Systems.

• Prepare engaging lectures, tutorials, practical classes, and workshops.
• Supervise student capstone projects, internships, and research initiatives.

• Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and project evaluations.

• Research:

• Conduct high-quality research in Mechatronics, Robotics, or related fields, focusing on publishing in recognized international journals.

• Collaborate with faculty and industry partners on interdisciplinary research projects.
• Secure funding through grants and industry partnerships to support research initiatives.

• Present research findings at conferences and contribute to the universitys research profile.

• Mentoring and Advising:

• Guide students in academic and career development, including supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.

• Foster a vibrant and inclusive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds.

• Program Development:

• Contribute to curriculum development, ensuring alignment with industry trends and technological advancements in Mechatronics and Robotics.

• Integrate practical, hands-on experiences into the curriculum, leveraging state-of-the-art laboratory facilities.

• Service and Engagement:

• Participate in departmental, faculty, and university committees.

• Engage with local industries and professional bodies to strengthen industry-academia linkages.

Qualifications and Experience

• Educational Requirements:

• Ph.D. or Master's in Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline from a recognized institution.

• Bachelors degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.

• Experience:

• 2-3 years of teaching, research, or industry experience in Mechatronics, Robotics, or related fields post- Ph.D

• Demonstrated hands-on experience in designing and building mechatronic or robotic systems.

• Experience supervising student projects or mentoring is highly desirable.

• Skills and Competencies:

• Expertise in at least two of the following areas: Robotics and Flexible Automation, Control Systems, Embedded Systems, Mechanical Design, or Machine Dynamics.

• Strong programming skills (e.g., C/C++, Python, MATLAB) and familiarity with tools like ROS (Robot Operating System) or PLC programming.
• Proven research record with publications in peer-reviewed journals or evidence of research leadership.
• Excellent communication skills in English (both written and spoken).
• Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, interdisciplinary academic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching experience in automation, robotics, or mechatronic system design.
• Experience securing research grants or collaborating with industry on applied projects.
• Familiarity with modern teaching methodologies, including blended learning and use of simulation tools.
