SENIOR DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

Experience: 7 to 10 years

Location : ON-SITE - Bangalore

ROLE OVERVIEW :

We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to ensure high availability, performance, and security across enterprise and cloud-based database environments. The role involves managing SQL Server infrastructure, supporting CI/CD pipelines, and collaborating across product, engineering, and security teams to design and maintain scalable data solutions on Azure and hybrid environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Production Environments :

· Install, configure & maintain SQL Server instances, databases, and clusters (AlwaysOn, Hadron).

· Implement and refine database security standards, manage vulnerabilities, and ensure data integrity and business continuity (including disaster recovery testing).

· Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and maintain maximum uptime for mission-critical databases.

· Manage incident and change control processes, ensuring compliance with enterprise policies.

· Support production application maintenance and process improvement initiatives.

Non-Production Environments :

· Configure and maintain Dev, UAT, and staging databases with secure restores from production.

· Develop and enforce database development standards and best practices.

· Build and maintain schemas, stored procedures, views, triggers, constraints, functions, CLR, linked servers, service broker, and openquery integrations.

· Develop & maintain SSRS reports, SQL Agent jobs and ETL pipelines using T-SQL, SSIS, and C#.

· Manage CI/CD pipelines using Git, TeamCity, Octopus, and Jira, enabling continuous delivery of database projects.

· Participate in new technical initiatives, version upgrades, and tool evaluations.

SKILLS & ABILITIES :

· Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, and Power BI.

· Proven experience in multi-datacenter and hybrid environments.

· Strong understanding of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP).

· Proficiency in T-SQL, PowerShell scripting, and database automation.

· Excellent communication and documentation skills.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced, Agile/Scrum environment.

· Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

· Hands-on experience administering 400+ SQL Servers in enterprise settings.

· Deep understanding of SQL Server security (proxy accounts, roles, logins, execution context).

· Exposure to Active Directory (on-prem and Azure AD).

· Familiarity with Kafka, ActiveMQ, Cohesity, and AppDynamics preferred.

· Experience in Lloyd's market or regulated environments is an advantage.

· Experience in continuous improvement and DevOps release management.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).

· Microsoft certifications relevant to SQL Server administration are advantageous.
