Job Summary:

The Material Management Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational management of all material-related activities within the electronic industry. This role encompasses both Made-to-Order (MTO) and Made-to-Stock (MTS) production environments, ensuring efficient procurement, inventory control, and timely delivery of raw materials (RM) and finished goods (FG). The successful candidate will optimize inventory levels, minimize costs, and maintain a seamless flow of materials to support production schedules and customer demands.

Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Material Planning & Forecasting:

  • Develop and implement material management strategies aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Analyze sales forecasts, production plans, and customer orders to determine material requirements for both MTO and MTS production.
  • Generate accurate demand forecasts for raw materials and finished goods, considering lead times and market trends.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate inventory levels for RM and FG to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory turnover, stock accuracy, and material availability.

2. Procurement & Supplier Management:

  • Manage the procurement process, including sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials and components.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
  • Monitor market trends and identify potential supply chain disruptions.

3. Inventory Control & Management:

  • Implement and maintain an effective inventory management system for both RM and FG.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Implement strategies for minimizing obsolete and slow-moving inventory.
  • Manage warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, and dispatch of materials.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of materials to maintain quality and prevent damage.
  • Implement FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory management techniques.

4. Production Planning & Coordination:

  • Collaborate with production planning and scheduling teams to ensure material availability for MTO and MTS production.
  • Monitor production schedules and adjust material requirements as needed.
  • Coordinate with production and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of finished goods.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on material availability and potential delays.

5. Logistics & Transportation:

  • Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics activities, ensuring efficient and cost-effective transportation of materials.
  • Manage freight forwarding and customs clearance processes for international shipments (if applicable).
  • Optimize transportation routes and modes to minimize lead times and transportation costs.

6. Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and manage a team of material management professionals, providing guidance and support.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the team.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.

7. System & Process Improvement:

  • Implement and maintain an ERP system for material management.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for material management activities.
  • Utilize data analysis and reporting tools to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in material management, preferably in the electronics or related manufacturing industry.
  • Proven experience in managing both MTO and MTS production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement, inventory control, and logistics principles.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of electronics industry materials and components is a plus.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts.
