Job Title: Transport In-Charge
Location: Coimbatore
Reports to:GM/AGM/ED
Job Responsibilities:
- Fleet Management:
- Supervise and manage the company's vehicle fleet, ensuring proper maintenance, cleanliness, and readiness for daily operations.
- Coordinate regular vehicle inspections and servicing to minimize breakdowns and ensure vehicle safety.
- Manage the allocation of vehicles based on operational needs, optimizing fleet usage to reduce costs.
- Transportation Coordination:
- Plan, schedule, and dispatch vehicles for delivery and transportation tasks.
- Coordinate with various departments (e.g., warehousing, sales, operations) to ensure timely pickups, deliveries, and logistics.
- Ensure that all deliveries are completed on time and in accordance with customer specifications.
- Route Optimization:
- Analyze and optimize routes to ensure timely deliveries while minimizing fuel costs and vehicle wear.
- Use transportation management systems (TMS) or GPS software to track deliveries and optimize daily routes.
- Driver Management:
- Oversee a team of drivers, ensuring they adhere to schedules, safety protocols, and company policies.
- Train, motivate, and assess driver performance, providing feedback and conducting performance reviews.
- Ensure drivers comply with all road safety regulations and maintain driving records.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all transportation operations comply with local, state, and national laws, including vehicle regulations, driver hours, and licensing requirements.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols for drivers, including routine checks on driver behavior, vehicle maintenance, and accident prevention.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, including proper documentation of transport-related incidents, accidents, and inspections.
- Inventory & Logistics Support:
- Support the logistics team with inventory management by ensuring that deliveries align with stock levels and customer orders.
- Maintain accurate transport documentation, including delivery logs, route plans, and vehicle records.
- Monitor the transport budget, track fuel usage, maintenance costs, and other related expenses to ensure cost-effective operations.
- Cost Management & Budgeting:
- Work with management to develop and manage the transportation budget, identifying cost-saving measures and improving efficiency.
- Monitor and control transportation expenses, including fuel, repairs, and insurance costs.
- Negotiate contracts with third-party transport providers when required to reduce transportation costs.
- Problem Solving & Customer Service:
- Handle any transportation-related issues or complaints, providing timely solutions to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the customer service and operations teams to address delays, delivery discrepancies, or other logistical challenges.
- Resolve issues related to damaged goods or transportation errors, ensuring minimal impact on customer relationships.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain reports on transportation performance, including delivery schedules, route optimization, fleet maintenance, and driver performance.
- Maintain accurate records of all transportation-related activities, including fuel consumption, vehicle inspections, and driver working hours.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or fleet management, with a proven track record of successfully managing vehicle fleets and transportation teams.
- Knowledge: Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, route planning, logistics operations, and fleet management.
- Leadership: Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse group of drivers and logistics personnel.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise with internal teams, customers, and external partners effectively.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with transportation management software (TMS), GPS tracking systems, and fleet management tools.
- Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly in managing unforeseen transportation issues or delays.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹20, ₹25,000.00 per month
