SOAR Automation Engineer

Job Description:

A
Level 2 SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response) Automation Engineer
is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated security workflows to enhance an organization's incident detection, response, and remediation capabilities. This mid-level position works closely with SOC analysts, cybersecurity teams, and IT to streamline operations, accelerate threat response, and reduce manual workload through cutting-edge automation.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and Maintain Automation Workflows:
Design, build, and optimize SOAR playbooks for various security scenarios. Enrich and automate incident triage, alert enrichment, and response actions using SOAR platforms

Integrate Security Tools:
Connect SOAR with SIEM, EDR, threat intelligence, ticketing, ITSM, and other tools to enable seamless workflow orchestration. Develop and maintain integrations via APIs and custom connectors.

Incident Response Support:
Assist SOC teams by automating detection, containment, and remediation steps. Improve incident response times and operational efficiencies through automation.

Playbook & Scripting:
Create, test, and enhance playbooks and logic using languages like Python, PowerShell, or YAML. Maintain comprehensive documentation for all workflows, scripts, and integration points.

Continuous Improvement:
Identify manual or repetitive processes suitable for automation.

Collaboration:
Partner with SOC analysts, Detection Engineers, and Threat Hunters to gather requirements and validate automation.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 2.5+ years of experience working with SOAR platform.
  • Hands-on with Python, PowerShell, or similar for automation.
  • Familiarity with SIEMs (e.g., QRadar), EDR tools, Threat Intel and ITSM.
  • Strong verbal and written skills, team collaboration.
  • Good problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
