Job Purpose / Role Summary:

To ensure that machined components meet customer drawings, specifications, and quality standards by performing dimensional, visual, and functional inspections at incoming, in-process, and final stages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and customer specifications.
  • Inspect incoming raw materials, in-process parts, and finished machined components.
  • Measure dimensions using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, plug/thread gauges, height gauges, 2D Height Gauge, and other precision instruments.
  • Hands on experience on surface finish, run-out, concentricity, and other geometric tolerances.
  • Identify, record, and report non-conforming parts.
  • Maintain inspection records, quality control sheets, and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR).
  • Verify calibration status of measuring instruments before use.
  • Assist in root cause analysis of defects and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 or customer quality requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with production, engineering, and quality teams.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of machining processes (turning, milling, grinding, etc.).
  • Ability to read and understand complex mechanical drawings and GD&T.
  • Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments.
  • Preferable with CMM or other automated measuring systems .
  • Basic understanding of SPC (Statistical Process Control) and quality tools.
  • Good documentation and reporting skills.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving mindset.

Qualifications:

  • ITI-with 4-5 years /Diploma -With 2-3 years/ B.Tech-with 1-2 in Mechanical, Production, or related field.

Working Conditions:

  • Shop-floor environment with exposure to machining operations.
