Job Profile: Instrumentation Engineer in a Dairy Company

An Instrumentation Engineer in a dairy company is responsible for managing and maintaining the instrumentation systems and equipment used in milk processing, quality control, and storage. The role involves ensuring optimal performance, accuracy, and reliability of instrumentation to support the production process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instrumentation Maintenance:
  • Monitor and maintain instruments such as flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature sensors, level transmitters, and pH meters.
  • Ensure that all instruments are calibrated regularly and function accurately.
  • Process Automation:
  • Manage and troubleshoot automation systems, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
  • Optimize process control loops to enhance production efficiency.
  • Installation and Commissioning:
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of new instrumentation and control systems.
  • Collaborate with equipment suppliers to ensure proper setup and integration into existing processes.
  • Troubleshooting and Repairs:
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with instrumentation and control systems to minimize downtime.
  • Provide technical support during equipment failures or process disruptions.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure instrumentation is aligned with quality control standards to maintain product consistency.
  • Support the Quality Assurance team by providing accurate data from sensors and monitoring systems.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain logs of calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation for audits and compliance purposes.
  • Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure that all instruments comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure safe handling of instrumentation.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Analyze data trends to identify areas for process improvement.
  • Implement innovative technologies to enhance system performance and efficiency.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in calibration, instrumentation maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in automation tools (PLCs, SCADA, HMI).
  • Knowledge of dairy processing systems and equipment is a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience:
  • 2-5 years of experience in instrumentation engineering; prior experience in the dairy or food processing industry is advantageous.

  • Availability for on-call duties during emergencies.
  • Willingness to work in shifts if necessary.
  • Familiarity with local and international instrumentation standards.
