Engineering Manager Drilling Services or Wireline

Job Description
Join Weatherford as an RD&E DS/Wireline Leader and spearhead a dynamic engineering team in Mumbai. You'll drive innovation, elevate service quality, and optimize costs through robust design, disciplined processes, and strong QHSE leadership. Partner with global teams to accelerate time-to-market for cutting-edge Drilling Services and Wireline technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects from concept to delivery—planning scope, resources, budget, and timelines.
• Drive design reviews, risk assessments, and quality assurance for DS/WL tools and equipment.
• Foster a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with global teams and external partners to ensure seamless product delivery.
• Provide technical support to operations and manufacturing during deployment and troubleshooting.
• Manage team resources and department budgets effectively.
• Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team; drive capability development and talent growth.
• Improve MTC Lab utilization and strengthen its role as the Eastern Hemisphere support hub.
• Ensure engineering and sustaining projects are delivered with full ownership and accountability.

Key Performance Indicators (3-Year Horizon)

• Capacity & capability development for MTC team: The candidate should be able to demonstrate tangible upgrade in the capability & capacity of the MTC team.
• Improvement in MTC Lab utilization: Help improve the utilization of the MTC lab and suggest upgrades to the MTC lab to provide better value. Help set-up the MTC lab as the point of contact of field operations support (including failure analysis) in the Eastern Hemisphere.
• Engineering & Sustaining project ownership: Help MTC team deliver engineering or sustaining projects with 100% ownership.

Qualifications
Required Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (advanced degree preferred).
• Minimum 8 years in DS/WL product design & development, with at least 3 years in engineering leadership.
• Strong expertise in DS/WL technologies, product lifecycle management, and cross-functional project execution.
• Proven leadership skills in managing multidisciplinary teams and driving complex projects.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

• Master's/Ph.D. in Engineering or MBA.
• Professional certifications (PE, Chartered Engineer, PMP).
• Experience with HP-HT tools, ISO 9001 systems, Six Sigma/Lean, or patent/innovation track record.
• Prior leadership experience in multi-site/global engineering environments.

This role may require domestic and potentially international travel of up to 25%
