Fire Protection BIM Engineer / Specialist

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced BIM Specialist/Engineer with a strong background in fire protection system design. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in the fire protection industry and be proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks. This role involves leading sprinkler system design, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and mentoring junior staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and layout of fire protection systems (sprinkler, foam, gas, mist, inert gas, special hazards) per LPC/NFPA/FM standards.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations, prepare shop drawings, and generate fabrication/installation documents.
  • Coordinate piping layouts with other trades and disciplines.
  • Lead BIM modelling efforts (LOD using Revit and related tools.
  • Conduct clash detection and QA/QC reviews.
  • Mentor junior BIM engineers and support team development.
  • Attend project meetings and liaise with clients and stakeholders.
  • Extract BOQs and manage project schedules and documentation.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years in fire protection design, including 3+ years in a BIM-focused role.
  • Proficient in Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD (AutoSPRINK a plus), and Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with BIM360, Revitzo, and Autodesk Construction Cloud is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of MEP, architectural, and structural coordination.
  • Experience with UK, Irish, or European projects preferred.
  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
