Job purpose

This role requires A Desktop Support Engineer to resolve issues present in a company's computer system. They fix end user computing problems that impact business productivity. The Support Engineer installs, maintains, and troubleshoots required client software and hardware, whether onsite or remotely.

Duties and responsibilities

The primary job duties and responsibilities are listed below that encourages the candidates to 'work outside the box' and within reason, discourages "that's not my job".

  • The main job role requires the candidate to handle all Second Level support for all Desktop / Laptop calls
  • Candidate should work closely with Customers to handle Escalation and coordination with vendor and internal helpdesk team for physical replacement (where applicable pending access and service contract provided by client)
  • The Candidate must be familiar with Desktop concept in an active directory environment.
  • Provide hands-on and remote support to employees, including VIP and executive users.
  • Must be able to Configure relevant device drivers for the systems on site or remote
  • Candidate must have good hands-on experience on Windows Operating Systems. Mac machine experience is good to have
  • Candidate must have hands on knowledge of anti-virus software's and must be able to run updates / patches through Central Antivirus Console
  • Candidate Must have good experience with configuring outlook/ MS-Outlook or Open source-based email clients like Thunderbird etc, backup of emails and related services
  • Working knowledge of AD and its functions for basic activity including GP and related
  • Must have working knowledge of network for troubleshooting endpoint issues
  • Must have knowledge of and work of asset management
  • Must know how to install various OEM software on the endpoints
  • Know how to backup and restore a desktop/laptop
  • Candidate must on a daily basis follow the reporting protocol setup in the system
  • Candidate must be in a position to maintain system security by noticing faults and vulnerabilities within the end point and server's

·       Guide and mentor junior desktop engineers and support staff

·       Serve as an escalation point for complex issues

·       Contribute to defining support standards, documentation, and best practices

Qualifications

  • Education – BE, Btech, BSc Preferred.
  • Specialized knowledge – Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or HDI – Desktop Support Technician Certification would be preferred
  • Skills – Candidate must have the abilty to diagnose & troubleshoot issues.
  • Abilities - Because they frequently work with both IT professionals and end users, they need have effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Other characteristics such as personal characteristics – Must have a pleasing personality & Ask targeted questions to diagnose problems

Working Requirements

Thorough understanding of all flavors of Windows Operating Systems – Windows 10/11 Professional Editions, Knowledge of MacOS and Linux is added advantage.  Should have strong hardware experience.
