Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Jewellery Designer & Merchandising Manager who will lead our merchandising and product development verticals. This strategic role requires a dynamic professional with a deep understanding of market trends, customer expectations, and end-to-end product development in the luxury jewellery segment. The candidate will be responsible not only for managing product lines but also for building and mentoring a high-performance team, aligning deliverables with management goals, and ensuring successful launches of innovative collections.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Design Management

• Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to gather and analyze detailed client and market requirements.
• Translate briefs into actionable design concepts and coordinate with the design team to create CADs, mockups, and prototypes.
• Ensure final designs align with brand identity, client expectations, and current fashion trends.
• Balance creativity with commercial viability across collections.

Merchandising & Launch Strategy

• Plan and implement product merchandising calendars in sync with seasonal and client-driven requirements.
• Strategically balance new product launches across timelines and categories.
• Ensure timely launch of collections based on management direction and market needs.

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, inspire, and manage the design and merchandising teams for optimal performance.
• Establish KPIs and monitor team productivity and deliverables.
• Mentor and develop talent within the team, fostering creativity and accountability.
• Align team efforts with broader company goals and ensure a culture of collaboration and excellence.

Production & Delivery Coordination

• Ensure efficient coordination between design to production to meet timelines and quality standards.
• Monitor WIP (Work In Progress), track orders, and ensure accurate and on-time delivery to clients.
• Optimize workflow and eliminate process bottlenecks.

Market Research & Business Growth

• Continuously monitor industry trends, customer behavior, and competitor activity to drive innovation, visit the clients as per requiremnets.
• Identify opportunities for market expansion and new client acquisitions.
• Create strategic plans for growth and profitability in target segments.

Client Relationship Management

• Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients and partners.
• Act as the primary point of contact for major clients, ensuring their needs are met with efficiency and creativity.
• Drive customer engagement through personalized service and proactive solutioning.

Costing, Pricing & Profitability

• Oversee costing of jewellery pieces, ensuring they meet profitability targets.
• Design and implement competitive pricing strategies based on market dynamics.
• Monitor margins and optimize pricing across product categories.

Presentation & Communication

• Create high-quality client presentations for new concepts, seasonal launches, and custom orders.
• Clearly communicate product features, material specifications, timelines, and value propositions.
• Serve as a liaison between design, production, sales, and client teams.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelors degree in Jewellery Design, Fashion Design, or related discipline.
• Experience: Minimum 10 years in jewellery merchandising and design for the domestic and/or export luxury markets.
• Team Leadership: Proven experience in leading, mentoring, and building high-performing design/merchandising teams.
• Creative Vision: Strong portfolio of successful collections that align with commercial trends and client preferences.
• Technical Proficiency: Hands-on knowledge of CAD tools (e.g., Rhino, Matrix), Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office.
• Business Acumen: Sound understanding of jewellery costing, pricing, and market strategy.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Time Management: Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Market Intelligence: Experience in conducting competitive analysis and market mapping.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to casting, handmade, machine made jewellery will be an added advantage.
• Experience working in a fast-scaling luxury brand or jewellery export house.
• Familiarity with machine-made and fusion jewellery techniques.
