Diversey is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chemical Engineer / Scientist to join R&D team in Mumbai. This role will be responsible for formula management and product development within the Institutional and Laundry (I&L) application areas, focusing on categories such as Floor Care, Building Care, and Personal Care. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise, support formulation teams, and collaborate with cross-functional departments including Regulatory, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Technical Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct laboratory experiments, develop test protocols, analyze data, and document findings.
  • Generate innovative ideas and solutions for new products and applications.
  • Ensure product development aligns with company standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and communicate progress to management and project teams.
  • Formula management responsibilities include portfolio maintenance in internal database system
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Manage short-term project priorities, monitor timelines, and ensure successful project completion.

In addition to the key responsibilities outlined above, it is preferred that the candidate applies Six Sigma tools and adheres to Stage Gate processes to improve process efficiency and drive innovation. The candidate should also stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to the R&D portfolio

Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer technology, Chemical Technology, or related discipline.

Experience

  • Master's: 4–5 years of relevant R&D experience in formulation and application development in the areas of hard surface cleaning, laundry applications, Floor care & Personal care product range
  • Ph.D.: 1–3 years of relevant R&D experience in formulation or application development.
  • Candidates with a background in Polymer Technology and knowledge of formulation chemistry and product stability are preferred
  • Strong knowledge of chemistry, formulation science, specialty/FMCG chemicals, and R&D methodologies.
  • Highly proficient with hands-on experience in laboratory techniques, product testing, and stability testing.
  • Preferred to have knowledge of project management, planning, estimating, monitoring, and controlling activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively as a team player.
  • Result-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities under tight timelines.
