Microsoft Access Developer (Database Design & VBA Programming)

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Microsoft Access Developer to design and develop a robust database application for our organization. The application will be used for critical data collection, storage, and editing, and must connect seamlessly to live data instances or external systems.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience building end-to-end Access applications — from planning database structure to implementing advanced automation through VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) and integrations with other tools or systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain Microsoft Access databases with normalized structure and efficient data relationships.
  • Develop user-friendly forms, queries, and reports for data management and presentation.
  • Write and optimize VBA code for automation, validation, and business logic.
  • Implement secure and reliable data connections to external sources (e.g. SQL Server, Excel, web APIs, or live data feeds).
  • Perform thorough testing, debugging, and documentation of the Access application.
  • Ensure data integrity, performance optimization, and version control.
  • Provide ongoing support and updates as needed.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in developing full-scale MS Access applications (at least 3+ years preferred).
  • Strong command of VBA programming and SQL queries.
  • Familiarity with data integration (ODBC, ADO, or other database connectors).
  • Experience in data modeling, relational database design, and Access front-end/back-end split setup.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and critical data securely.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and reliability in remote or collaborative environments.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience connecting Access with cloud or web-based systems (Azure, SharePoint, or Power Platform).
  • Familiarity with Excel automation, Power BI, or .NET integration.
  • Background in database migration or modernization.
