Role Title
Consultant Gastroenterologist (On-site)
Role & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality outpatient and inpatient gastroenterology care: evaluate, diagnose, and manage common and complex GI and hepatology conditions (IBD, liver disease, pancreato-biliary disorders, GI bleeding).
- Perform and document endoscopic procedures including diagnostic upper GI endoscopy (OGD), colonoscopy, polypectomy and endoscopic hemostasis; lead advanced procedures (ERCP/EUS) where credentialed.
- Lead acute-care responses for GI emergencies (upper/lower GI bleed), participate in on-call rota and ensure adherence to sedation and procedural safety protocols.
- Work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams—coordinate care with surgery, radiology, hepatology, nutrition and nursing to optimise patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate EMR documentation, contribute to clinical audit, quality improvement, infection-control protocols and endoscopy-suite governance.
- Supervise and mentor junior doctors, nursing staff and trainees; participate in departmental teaching, CME and protocol development.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- MBBS with DM (Gastroenterology) / DNB Gastroenterology or equivalent; valid Indian medical registration.
- Minimum 2+ years of independent clinical experience post-specialisation (or demonstrable procedural competency for early-career consultants).
- Proven competency in diagnostic endoscopy and therapeutic colonoscopy; familiarity with endoscopic hemostasis and polypectomy.
- Experience managing acute GI bleed, inpatient care and participation in on-call rotas; competent in procedural sedation and patient safety.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, clinical audit processes and healthcare quality standards (NABH or equivalent).
- Strong interpersonal, communication and team-collaboration skills; patient-centred approach and teaching experience.
Preferred
- Hands-on experience with ERCP/EUS, advanced therapeutic endoscopy, motility testing or transplant workup.
- Track record of clinical research, publications or active participation in CME and quality improvement initiatives.
- Experience working in NABH-accredited hospitals or leading endoscopy QA programmes.
