Primary Purpose of the Role:

The Rigging Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all types of rigging, lifting, shifting, loading, off-loading, jacking, and sliding operations across refinery units. The role involves performing site visits, preparing risk assessments and method statements, and ensuring the selection of appropriate tools and tackles in compliance with industry standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all rigging and lifting activities are performed safely in compliance with Qatar Energy Lifting Equipment Standards and Procedures.
  • Conduct site visits, identify potential risks, and prepare risk assessments in collaboration with the team.
  • Arrange and review lifting plans, rigging calculations, and job hazard analysis (JHA) documentation.
  • Issue and follow Permit to Work (PTW) procedures, obtaining approvals from relevant authorities.
  • Conduct Safety Toolbox Talks (TBTs), collect signatures from concerned personnel, and maintain accurate records.
  • Supervise routine and non-routine maintenance activities, including motor, pump, valve, exchanger bundle cooler, blower, fin fan, spool, bundle cooler, and bearing replacements, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and safety compliance upon job completion.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with the Heavy Equipment Supervisor regarding ongoing and scheduled activities.
  • Provide guidance and direction to support staff and field personnel, ensuring understanding of risks and procedures.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Minimum Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (3 years) or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 8–15 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Proven experience in rigging and lifting supervision.
  • Relevant certifications and experience letters are required.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret lifting plans and drawings.
  • Computer literate; familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office, SAP, and computer-based rigging/lifting management systems is preferred.
  • Ability to lead teams, provide direction, and manage on-site safety.

Certifications & Requirements:

  • Relevant TPI certifications.
  • Driving license (Qatar license preferred).
  • PTW and H2S safety certifications preferred.
  • Age: Not over 53 years.
