About the Role:

Mechanical Engineer with strong expertise in designing rugged mechanical systems for agricultural or industrial robotics. Brings hands-on experience in transforming complex designs into reliable, production-ready hardware operating in harsh outdoor environments.

Responsible for developing mechanical design for tractor-mounted laser-weeding robots:

  • Concept generation and evaluation (mechanism concepts, layouts, mounting and integration with tractor systems)
  • Detailed mechanical design (material selection, tolerance stack-up, seals & fasteners, corrosion protection)
  • CAD (3D assemblies, routing, packaging of optics & electronics, accessibility for service)
  • Testing and Validation (basic FEA for vibration & fatigue, engineering calculations, field performance verification under heat/dust/shock)
  • Manufacturing process understanding and DFM (sheet metal, machining, weldments, fast assembly and alignment features)
  • Design for assembly, service and production (DFA, accessibility, installation ergonomics, assembly time optimization)
  • Engineering drawings and documentation (Manufacturing drawings, GD&T, assembly documentation, revision control)
  • Proven ability to take designs from concept through 
    prototype → field testing → production release
  • Strong ownership of 
    serviceability and maintainability
     in design

Tools:
 Proficient in SolidWorks / Fusion 360 (parts, assemblies, 2D drawings, large assemblies).
Strong assembly management and drafting discipline.
Familiarity with PLM tools and ECN/ECR processes (design control and release workflows).

What will you do here:

  • Serve as responsible designer for assigned mechanical subsystems and components
  • Develop mechanical designs from early CAD concept to fully detailed drawings for release
  • Ensure designs meet performance, durability, manufacturability, and serviceability requirements
  • Select mechanical components (bearings, fasteners, mounts, motion components)
  • Conduct tolerance analysis and interface definition across assemblies
  • Own design review preparation and successful release through the product lifecycle
  • Support testing, failure analysis, and corrective redesigns for field-driven improvements
  • Collaborate tightly with controls, electronics, perception, optics and field operations teams
  • Support vendor engagement and quality checks for fabricated parts and assemblies
  • Contribute to improving assembly process time, reliability and maintainability
  • Mentor junior team members in mechanical design best practices (if experienced)

Experience: 
3 to 5 years
 mechanical engineering / mechanical design experience

(Preferably in robotics, machinery, automotive, or off-road industry)
