Senior Accountant Ellerra (via Orbuculum)

Orbuculum is the India delivery partner of Ellerra, a Silicon Valley based accounting and consulting firm serving U.S. clients. Selected candidates will be employed by Orbuculum and work directly on Ellerras client engagements, operating as an integral part of Ellerra's global accounting team.

Role & Responsibilities:

You'll be the backbone of our client accounting operations — owning end-to-end financial health for multiple U.S.-based clients. This is not just a number-crunching role — you'll lead, mentor, analyse, automate, and deliver insights that drive business decisions.

Your Day-to-Day Will Include:

Lead & Mentor Junior Accountants

Assign tasks, review work, coach team members, and build a culture of accuracy and accountability.

Own the Month-End Close Process

Prepare and review accruals, reversals, balance sheet schedules — ensuring clean, timely, audit-ready books every month.

Review & Approve Reconciliations

Bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations — spot discrepancies fast and drive resolution.

Post Complex Journal Entries

Handle adjustments, allocations, intercompany entries — ensuring financial statements are accurate and complete.

Enforce U.S. GAAP & Quality Standards

Apply U.S. accounting principles consistently across all clients and uphold Ellerra's high standards.

Oversee AP/AR Control Processes

Manage vendor setup, approvals, aging reports, collections — keeping cash flow healthy and controls tight.

Prepare & Analyse Financial Reports

Generate P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and management reports — explain variances, trends, and tell the story behind the numbers to U.S. clients.

Drive Process Improvements & Automation

Work with tech teams to document workflows, configure ERPs (like QuickBooks, Zoho, ERPNext), and implement AI tools to boost efficiency.

Support Investment Accounting (Where Applicable)

Track portfolios, reconcile performance, and assist with investor reporting.

Protect Client Data & Comply with Security Standards

Adhere strictly to SOC 2 / ISO 27001 protocols — confidentiality is non-negotiable.

Use AI Tools to Work Smarter

Leverage automation for reconciliations, reporting, and workflow — we're tech-forward, not tech-dependent.

Collaborate with Auditors, Tax Advisors & Vendors

Be the go-to point of contact for external stakeholders — your communication skills matter as much as your accounting skills.

Report to the Accounting Manager

Provide clear, proactive updates on client status, risks, and priorities — you're not just doing the work, you're owning the outcomes.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

We're looking for a seasoned, confident accountant who thrives in a fast-paced, client-facing environment — whether you're a CA or have built your expertise through hands-on experience.

Education:

• CA (Chartered Accountant) OR
• M.Com / B.Com with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience

Experience Must Include:

• Hands-on ownership of month-end close cycles
• Proven ability to review and manage financial statements under U.S. GAAP
• Experience leading or mentoring junior accountants
• Exposure to ERP systems like QuickBooks Online, Zoho Books, Tally Prime, ERPNext, Akaunting, etc.
• Advanced Excel skills — Power Query, PivotTables, XLOOKUP, macros/VBA, dynamic arrays
• Familiarity with Power BI (a plus)
• Understanding of data security practices (SOC 2 / ISO and AI productivity tools in accounting
