Role Description

The Junior Draughtsman will play a crucial role in the Design and Drafting team, contributing to the creation of detailed technical drawings and plans for various projects. This role involves working closely with senior draughtsman and engineers to transform conceptual designs into accurate and precise technical drawings. The Junior Draughtsman will utilise computer-aided design (CAD) software and other drafting tools to produce drawings that adhere to industry standards and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Drafting and Design:

  • Create detailed technical drawings, plans, and diagrams based on project specifications.
  • Collaborate with senior draughtsman and engineers to interpret and implement design concepts.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of drawings, adhering to relevant standards and guidelines.

CAD Software Operation:

  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software proficiently to generate accurate and efficient drawings.
  • Stay updated on the latest CAD tools and technologies, incorporating best practices into the drafting process.

Documentation:

  • Maintain organised and up-to-date documentation of all drawings and revisions.
  • Assist in the preparation of design documentation, including technical reports and project documentation.
  • Uploading and managing working and final drawing files in the work drive space as directed by the reporting manager.

Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, architects, and other stakeholders, to understand project requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to clarify design aspects and resolve potential issues.

Quality Control:

  • Perform regular quality checks on drafted drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
  • Implement feedback from senior draughtsman and project leads to refine and improve drawings.

Qualifications:

  • B. E Civil
  • 2-3 years experience in drafting structural drawings of low-rise and high-rise buildings.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Knowledge of 3D AutoCAD and Sketchup will be an added advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting work.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and construction methods.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and take direction from senior draughtsman.
