Job Role: Material Research Associate

Job Summary: As a Material Scientist/Researcher at our company, you will lead the development and optimization of materials used in our kitchen and furniture products. You will conduct material characterization, testing, and research to ensure durability, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will drive innovation and ensure compliance with industry standards. Your expertise will contribute to the continuous improvement of our product offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Material Selection:

• Innovative Materials: Identify and test new materials for better performance and sustainability.
• Cost-Effectiveness: Balance cost and performance in material selection.
• Sustainability: Prioritize environmentally friendly materials.

2. Material Testing and Analysis:

• Performance Testing: Test materials for strength, durability, and other performance metrics.
• Compliance Testing: Ensure materials meet all safety and environmental regulations.
• Optimization: Continuously improve materials based on testing and feedback.

3. Collaborative Responsibilities:

• Material Properties: Offer information on material properties and potential failure modes related to material selection.

4. Material Research Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

• Material Cost Savings: Reduction in material costs by introducing new material adoption or optimization.
• Material Performance Improvement: Enhanced performance metrics like hardness, durability, strength, and sustainability.
• Sustainability Metrics: Reduction in environmental impact, such as lower carbon footprint or increased use of recycled materials.
• Compliance Rate: Percentage of materials passing regulatory and safety standards.
• Innovation Rate: Number of new materials or material improvements introduced within a year.

Required Skills:

1. Advanced Degree in Materials Science or Related Field, preferably graduated from CIPET in plastics.

2. Technical Skills:

• Material Characterization Techniques: Proficiency in techniques such as spectroscopy, microscopy, thermal analysis, and mechanical testing to analyze and characterize materials.
• Knowledge of Material Properties: Deep understanding of physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of various materials including metals, polymers, composites, ceramics, and natural materials.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and solve complex material - related problems.

3. Industry-Specific Knowledge:

• Understanding of Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of manufacturing processes relevant to plastic and white goods products, such as molding, pressing, extrusion, cutting, joining, and finishing techniques.

4. Experience:

• Product Development Experience: Experience in working on material selection and development projects, ideally within the kitchen or furniture industry.
• Testing and Compliance: Experience with testing standards and regulatory compliance related to material safety, durability, and environmental impact.
• Research and Innovation: Ability to conduct innovative research to develop new materials or improve existing ones, focusing on enhancing product performance, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Computer Modeling and Simulation: Experience with software tools for modeling and simulating material behavior under various conditions.

• Experience: 4-6 years in plastic grade materials.

• Contribution in papers or in patent publication in material innovation.

Candidates with experience in the Automotive and Whitegoods (Home Appliances) industries are highly preferred.
