Company Description

RRP Group of Companies, in collaboration with a leading French company, is setting up a new Drone Unit. To strengthen our team, we are looking for passionate team members with expertise in Drone Designing.

Location: Mahape, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra 400710

As a Drone Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design of drone systems, including airframe structure, component layout, and integration of mechanical and electronic systems. You will work closely with aerospace, electronics, and software teams to ensure the drone meets performance, safety, and manufacturability standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop drone airframes and mechanical components using CAD tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate propulsion, sensors, and payload systems.
  • Perform structural analysis, weight optimization, and thermal management.
  • Create prototypes and support testing and validation of design concepts.
  • Document design specifications, BOMs, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with aviation standards and safety regulations.
  • Continuously improve design based on flight test data and user feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in UAV/drone design or similar mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA).
  • Experience with FEA tools and simulation (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
  • Knowledge of materials used in lightweight structures (carbon fiber, composites, etc.).

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of aerodynamics, propulsion systems, and structural mechanics.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes: 3D printing, CNC machining, injection molding.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and documentation abilities.

Preferred (Bonus) Skills:

  • Experience with drone flight controllers (PX4, ArduPilot).
  • Knowledge of embedded systems and sensor integration.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards (DGCA, FAA, etc.).
