Job Summary:
The Plant Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the manufacturing plant, with a focus on safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity. This includes overseeing production, maintenance, quality control, inventory management, and workforce management. The Plant Manager plays a critical role in ensuring that dairy automation equipment is manufactured to meet industry standards, while driving continuous improvement initiatives across all plant operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
Oversee and coordinate all plant operations, including production, maintenance, inventory, and logistics, to ensure optimal efficiency and effectiveness.
- Monitor and manage production schedules to meet customer demand and ensure timely delivery of products.
Ensure all plant operations align with safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies.
Quality Control & Assurance:
Ensure that all dairy automation products meet or exceed quality standards, including international certifications such as CE Marking, ISO 9001, and FDA standards.
- Implement and maintain robust quality control systems to ensure product reliability and customer satisfaction.
Work closely with engineering and R&D teams to resolve any technical or production issues affecting product quality.
Team Leadership:
Lead, manage, and develop plant staff, including supervisors, production workers, and technical personnel.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and high performance, ensuring clear communication across departments.
Set performance targets for the team, monitor progress, and conduct performance evaluations to ensure staff development.
Process Improvement:
Continuously evaluate and improve manufacturing processes to increase productivity, reduce waste, and lower production costs.
- Implement lean manufacturing practices and Six Sigma methodologies to improve plant efficiency and reduce downtime.
Lead plant modernization initiatives, incorporating automation and other technological advances to enhance production capacity.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure the plant complies with all environmental, health, and safety regulations, including OSHA and industry-specific safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training programs for employees to minimize accidents and injuries.
Maintain documentation for compliance with relevant safety and regulatory bodies.
Inventory and Supply Chain Management:
Oversee the management of raw materials, components, and finished goods inventory, ensuring optimal stock levels to meet production needs.
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely sourcing of materials and components, while managing costs.
Implement effective inventory control practices to minimize stock shortages and excesses.
Budgeting & Financial Management:
Prepare and manage the plants annual operating budget, ensuring cost control and adherence to financial targets.
- Monitor operational expenses, production costs, and resource allocation to ensure the plant operates within budget.
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
Performance Tracking & Reporting:
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, quality, safety, and cost management.
- Analyze plant performance data and generate reports for senior management, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure transparency in reporting operational challenges and achievements to key stakeholders.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in plant management or production leadership, preferably in a manufacturing environment related to automation, dairy, or food processing equipment.
- Proven experience managing large teams and complex manufacturing processes.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Solid understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards in manufacturing.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in manufacturing software, ERP systems, and data analysis tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage cross-functional teams and relationships with stakeholders.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in the dairy or food automation industry is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of automation technologies and their application in manufacturing processes.
- Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt), or similar process improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in financial planning and budgeting.
