Reports to: Director of Operations / Project Head

Job Summary:

The Plant Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the manufacturing plant, with a focus on safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity. This includes overseeing production, maintenance, quality control, inventory management, and workforce management. The Plant Manager plays a critical role in ensuring that dairy automation equipment is manufactured to meet industry standards, while driving continuous improvement initiatives across all plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management:

  • Oversee and coordinate all plant operations, including production, maintenance, inventory, and logistics, to ensure optimal efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Monitor and manage production schedules to meet customer demand and ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Ensure all plant operations align with safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies.

  • Quality Control & Assurance:

  • Ensure that all dairy automation products meet or exceed quality standards, including international certifications such as CE Marking, ISO 9001, and FDA standards.

  • Implement and maintain robust quality control systems to ensure product reliability and customer satisfaction.
  • Work closely with engineering and R&D teams to resolve any technical or production issues affecting product quality.

  • Team Leadership:

  • Lead, manage, and develop plant staff, including supervisors, production workers, and technical personnel.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and high performance, ensuring clear communication across departments.
  • Set performance targets for the team, monitor progress, and conduct performance evaluations to ensure staff development.

  • Process Improvement:

  • Continuously evaluate and improve manufacturing processes to increase productivity, reduce waste, and lower production costs.

  • Implement lean manufacturing practices and Six Sigma methodologies to improve plant efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Lead plant modernization initiatives, incorporating automation and other technological advances to enhance production capacity.

  • Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure the plant complies with all environmental, health, and safety regulations, including OSHA and industry-specific safety standards.

  • Conduct regular safety audits and training programs for employees to minimize accidents and injuries.
  • Maintain documentation for compliance with relevant safety and regulatory bodies.

  • Inventory and Supply Chain Management:

  • Oversee the management of raw materials, components, and finished goods inventory, ensuring optimal stock levels to meet production needs.

  • Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely sourcing of materials and components, while managing costs.
  • Implement effective inventory control practices to minimize stock shortages and excesses.

  • Budgeting & Financial Management:

  • Prepare and manage the plants annual operating budget, ensuring cost control and adherence to financial targets.

  • Monitor operational expenses, production costs, and resource allocation to ensure the plant operates within budget.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.

  • Performance Tracking & Reporting:

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, quality, safety, and cost management.

  • Analyze plant performance data and generate reports for senior management, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure transparency in reporting operational challenges and achievements to key stakeholders.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in plant management or production leadership, preferably in a manufacturing environment related to automation, dairy, or food processing equipment.
  • Proven experience managing large teams and complex manufacturing processes.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards in manufacturing.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing software, ERP systems, and data analysis tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage cross-functional teams and relationships with stakeholders.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in the dairy or food automation industry is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of automation technologies and their application in manufacturing processes.
  • Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt), or similar process improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in financial planning and budgeting.
