Job Overview:
We are looking for a knowledgeable and passionate Horticulturist to support our landscaping and greenery projects. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in plant selection, plant care, and landscape-oriented plant planning. This role involves hands-on supervision at project sites, ensuring proper installation, plant health, and maintenance standards. The Horticulturist will also collaborate closely with design teams, project managers, and field staff to create sustainable, visually appealing, and healthy green environments. A key part of this role includes diagnosing plant-related issues, sourcing high-quality plant materials, and training teams on plant maintenance techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Plant Selection & Installation
- Recommend suitable plant species based on environmental conditions, space availability, aesthetics, and maintenance feasibility.
- Provide plant layout and placement suggestions during project planning stages.
- Supervise planting, transplantation, and installation activities at project sites to ensure accurate placement and optimum plant health.
Plant Health & Maintenance
- Monitor and assess the health of installed plants after project completion.
- Identify and treat plant diseases, pest infestations, nutrient deficiencies, and environmental stress factors.
- Develop customized care and maintenance guidelines for clients and internal teams.
- Oversee watering schedules, soil conditioning, pruning practices, and plant protection protocols.
Sourcing & Vendor Coordination
- Source high-quality plants from nurseries, suppliers, and verified vendors.
- Coordinate with plant suppliers to ensure timely, cost-effective, and accurate delivery of plant materials.
- Maintain a database of approved nurseries, vendor contacts, plant pricing, plant availability, and seasonal species.
Training & Technical Support
- Train field staff, gardeners, and maintenance teams on plant care, pruning, soil requirements, watering techniques, and plant disease prevention.
- Assist in preparing plant reference documents, species lists, presentations, and maintenance manuals.
- Provide horticulture-related technical support to project managers, designers, and client-facing teams.
Skills & Qualifications:
Educational Background
- Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Botany, Agriculture, or a related discipline.
Experience & Knowledge
- Minimum 2 years of experience in landscape horticulture, nursery management, or similar field-based plant care roles.
- Strong understanding of indoor and outdoor plant species, seasonal and climatic compatibility, and soil types.
- Ability to identify and treat common plant diseases, pests, fungal infections, and environmental stress issues.
- Familiarity with plant nutrition, soil improvement, irrigation techniques, and horticultural best practices.
Technical & Soft Skills
- Strong observation and diagnostic skills for identifying plant health concerns.
- Good communication skills for guiding teams and interacting with clients.
- Ability to supervise on-site activities and ensure high-quality plant installation.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills for plant lists, vendor data, and maintenance plans.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with vertical garden or green wall installations.
- Knowledge of native, drought-tolerant, and low-maintenance plant varieties.
- Proficiency in Hindi, Marathi, and English.
