The Primary Research Analyst contributes to the success of RSM's primary research team by serving as a data analyst for primary research projects and other related efforts. In this role, the Analyst will help to oversee all aspects of data analysis after the conclusion of a study and will also have input into study and data design to help optimize the speed, effectiveness and accuracy of data analysis. This individual plays a key role in our mission to enable RSM's ability to listen, understand, and act on market and talent insights. In this role, the analyst will use our data tools, including AI tools such as Copilot or ChatGPT to help generate insights from the studies we conduct and business problems we are asked to solve, including internal employee surveys (VOE), external market studies (such as Brand, Loyalty and Post Engagement) and other ad-hoc studies such as communications testing and competitive analysis. This is a supporting role to the team, who are the primary leads for most projects. This individual will report to the Associate Director but be utilized across the team as needed to add value and speed time to insights on relevant projects.
Essential Duties
Analyze data from primary research studies:
- In collaboration with the primary research leads, the analyst will organize, analyze, and report on research findings using a variety of common market analysis tools, including:
- SPSS
- Qualtrics Research suite, and similar cloud analysis programs
- AI tools such as Copilot and ChatGPT
- Working knowledge of quantitative and qualitative market research techniques such as frequencies, descriptive statistics, regression, factor analysis, and statistical testing.
- Understanding of how to work with, merge, quality check, and manipulate large data sets 1,000+ records in common formats such as CSV, SAV, TXT and others.
- Ability to analyze both structured and unstructured data to produce insights on what the data says and what the story is behind the results. This is often done after the initial study is completed to help with follow-on analysis or deeper insights.
- Experience using and experimenting with AI tools and prompt engineering. Familiarity with agentic AI is a plus.
Assist in finalizing primary research reports:
- Contributes to reports in both organization, content and ideas
- Proofing and error checking reports for internal audiences and for public release
- Working knowledge of reporting tools like MS PowerPoint and MS Excel and statistical tools such as R and SPSS.
- Collaborates within the primary research team and, when needed, across other insights teams to support primary research projects.
Responsible for archiving and storing data from primary research studies in systems of record including SharePoint, Qualtrics, OneDrive and other similar platforms and serving in this role to help the Primary Research team stay organized and easily access important research studies and share with stakeholders.
Collaborate across teams, including Primary Research, other areas of insights, Talent, Customer Experience, Innovation and others to enable RSM's ability to listen, understand, and act on market and talent insights across the .
Other duties as assigned .
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
(MUST NOTE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED)
Bachelor's Degree in data science, statistics, marketing research,
economics (or a social science with an emphasis on research
methods) is required
TECHNICAL/SOFT SKILLS
- Required:
- Proficient using market research data analysis tools such as SPSS, Qualtrics research suite, or R
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Power Point)
- Ability to explain the results of data analysis in plain speak to those who use our results for their work and aren't data analysts themselves
- Strong attention to detail and fact checking/reviewing data for errors and inconsistencies
Experience with AI Tools or machine learning to analyze unstructured data (Microsoft Co-Pilot, ChatGPT) and utilizing reasoning models to solve business problems
Preferred:
- Experience working on voice of employee and similar types of internal talent surveys
- Some experience with and openness to learning cloud-based reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and others
- Data visualization skills, including the ability to create compelling and insightful visualizations
- Good team and relationship building skills and an ability to work independently to get the job done.
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to translate insights into actionable findings

- Qualtrics CX certification
EXPERIENCE
Required
- 3-5 years minimum of related experience working in a data analyst role, corporate research department, or a client or customer insights team with a marketing research supplier
- Experience in quantitative and qualitative marketing research methods, tools, and techniques
- Demonstrated experience using SPSS and equivalent tools to analyze large data sets and develop insights and data stories
- Experience with cloud-based data collection tools such as Qualtrics or Medallia
