Role Overview

The Special Educator will be responsible for identifying, supporting, and developing individual education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs, ensuring inclusive and equitable learning opportunities. The educator works closely with teachers, parents, counselors, and therapists to create a supportive environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth.

Key Responsibilities1. Student Assessment & Identification

  • Conduct screening and formal assessments to identify learning disabilities, developmental delays, or behavioral challenges.
  • Review medical/psychological reports and translate recommendations into actionable strategies.
  • Maintain assessment records and progress reports.

2. Individualized Education Planning (IEP/ILP)

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans tailored to each student's needs.
  • Set measurable goals and track progress through regular documentation.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate accommodations and modifications.

3. Instruction & Intervention

  • Provide individualized and small-group instruction in areas such as reading, writing, math, communication, and social skills.
  • Use evidence-based intervention strategies and assistive technologies.
  • Adapt classroom materials to ensure accessibility.

4. Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with general education teachers to implement inclusive practices.
  • Coordinate with counselors, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and psychologists.
  • Conduct awareness sessions for teachers on inclusive education strategies.

5. Parent Engagement

  • Guide parents on home-based strategies to support learning and behavior.
  • Communicate regularly regarding student progress and challenges.
  • Conduct IEP review meetings with parents and relevant stakeholders.

6. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain detailed case files, IEPs, progress notes, and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and school policies related to inclusive education.
  • Prepare documentation required for concessions, exemptions, or external evaluations.

7. School Support & Training

  • Support inclusive classroom practices and monitor implementation of accommodations.
  • Conduct workshops for staff on learning disabilities, behavior management, differentiated instruction, etc.
  • Participate in school events and provide input on inclusive policies.

Qualifications & SkillsRequired

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education (B.Ed. Spl. Ed.) OR
  • Diploma in Special Education (recognized by RCI)
  • Registration with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) (for India-specific roles)

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Special Education or Psychology
  • Experience working with children with special needs (1–3+ years)

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of learning disabilities (LD), ADHD, Autism, developmental delays, behavioral disorders.
  • Excellent communication, empathy, patience, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to design differentiated instructional materials.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology tools and learning software.
  • Effective documentation and reporting skills.

Work Environment

  • Resource room / inclusive classroom setting.
  • Collaboration with teachers and multidisciplinary teams.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹35, ₹40,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Bengaluru, Karnataka: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
