Job Summary
As a Commodities Specialist, you'll support our trade documentary processes by accurately preparing, reviewing and maintaining commodity related documentation, supporting strategic decision making and subject matter expertise to ensure consistent delivery of a high-quality service to our customers.
You'll be a key part of our Trade Documentary team, who are responsible for supporting the efficient execution of Trade Finance operations within the Bank. The team are vitally important to the Bank's core strategy, handling transactions globally and minimising risk. You'll be part of a global, purpose-led business with the resources to support your unique career aspirations. Key Responsibilities
- You'll be ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality services, exceeding customer expectations and working accurately and efficiently, showcasing good business processes and sound judgement.
- Provide subject matter expertise and support to internal stakeholders.
- Ensure transactions are handled with in the allocated approved limits at all times, on a continual basis.
- Understand our workflows and processes, and prioritise transactions based on business and client requests.
- Maintain process documentation, including workflow diagrams, department operating instructions and process manuals.Identify opportunities for process optimisation and automation to enhance operational efficiency and reduce risk.
Skills and Experience
- Significant prior experience in trade finance operations within a banking or financial institution.
- Experience document checking under letter of credit.
- Knowledge of sanctions and anti-money laundering (AML).
- Certificate for Documentary Credit Specialists (CDCS) certification is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Trade Finance products, including export negotiations, guarantees and documentary collections.
- Knowledge of international trade rules and practices, including Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP600), International Standby Practices (ISP98), International Standard Banking Practice (ISBP745) and Uniform Rules for Collections (URC522).
- Familiarity with Trade Finance systems and technologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
