Job Role Overview:

The Odoo Functional Consultant will be responsible for analysing business requirements, designing scalable Odoo solutions, implementing modules, and ensuring smooth system adoption across business units. The role acts as a bridge between end users and technical teams, ensuring that Odoo supports operational efficiency, process compliance, and business growth.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Engage with clients/stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements. Configure, customize, and implement the Odoo ERP modules to meet business needs.
  2. Provide functional support for ERP-related issues, including troubleshooting and testing.
  3. Collaborate with technical teams for customization, integration, and deployment.
  4. Conduct end-user training and prepare documentation for implemented processes.
  5. Map business processes to ERP functionality and suggest process improvements.
  6. Coordinate UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and ensure smooth go-live transitions.
  7. Monitor system performance and recommend enhancements or best practices.

Business Requirements & Analysis :

  1. Engage with stakeholders to gather functional requirements across Finance, HR, Projects, Procurement, CRM, Inventory, and Operations.
  2. Conduct process mapping and gap analysis to identify system enhancements.
  3. Recommend best-practice Odoo configurations aligned with business needs.

Odoo Implementation & Customisation

  1. Configure Odoo modules (Sales, Purchase, Inventory, Accounting, HR, Projects, etc.).
  2. Work with technical developers on custom module development, workflows, and integrations.
  3. Create functional specifications for customisations and system enhancements.

System Support & Troubleshooting

  1. Provide L2/L3 support for Odoo functional issues.
  2. Diagnose functional problems and coordinate with technical teams for resolution.
  3. Perform testing (UAT, regression, integration) before deployment.

User Enablement & Adoption

  1. Conduct user training, create manuals, SOPs, and release notes.
  2. Support change-management activities to improve system adoption.
  3. Ensure data accuracy and guide teams during migrations.

Continuous Improvement

  1. Proactively identify process improvement opportunities.
  2. Recommend new Odoo features, automation options, and performance enhancements.
  3. Monitor system performance and compliance with internal policies.

Required Skills & Competencies

  1. Minimum 2 - 4 years of experience as an Odoo Functional Consultant.
  2. Strong knowledge of Odoo modules (Sales, Purchase, Inventory, Accounting, HR, CRM, Projects).
  3. Experience in business process analysis and solution design.
  4. Good understanding of ERP workflows, data models, and functional architecture.
  5. Ability to translate business needs into technical specifications.
  6. Strong documentation, communication, and presentation skills.
  7. Ability to work cross-functionally across departments.
  8. Experience in the energy, engineering, or contracting sector is an added advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bachelors degree in Business, IT, Engineering, or related field.
  2. Odoo certification or prior experience in Odoo V16 to V18.
  3. Familiarity with API integrations, reporting tools, and basic SQL understanding.
  4. Experience with multi-company, multi-currency Odoo environments.
