Job Title: New Product Development Engineer Plastic Injection Molding
Location: [ Chennai Irrugatukottai ] Experience: 2-5 Years Department: Engineering R&D Reports To: Plant Head Operations
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented New Product Development Engineer with hands-on experience in plastic injection molding. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving product innovation from concept through production, ensuring manufacturability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support new product development projects involving plastic components.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, tooling, quality, and manufacturing.
- Develop and validate 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using tools like SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Participate in mold design reviews and coordinate with mold makers and suppliers.
- Conduct feasibility studies, DFMEA, and design validation testing.
- Support tooling trials, part sampling, and process optimization.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal quality systems.
- Document all development activities and maintain project timelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in product development with a focus on plastic injection molding.
- Proficiency in CAD software and knowledge of mold design principles.
- Familiarity with GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and DFM/DFA practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and project management abilities.
