Network & Security Support Engineer

Role Objective

Manage and secure the organisations network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and VPNs, ensuring reliable and secure connectivity.

Key Responsibilities

Configure, monitor, and manage FortiGate firewalls (policies, SSL VPN, IPS, content filtering).

Administer Cisco Layer 2/3 switches including VLAN configuration, trunking, and routing protocols.

Manage wired and wireless networks, including Guest Wi-Fi.

Monitor and respond to network alerts using NMS tools (PRTG, Zabbix, SolarWinds, or equivalent).

Ensure network availability in compliance with security and uptime SLAs.

Implement changes as per the organisations IT Security Policy.

Troubleshoot and resolve escalated network and connectivity issues.

Maintain documentation of network diagrams, firewall rules, and configuration changes.

Support security audits and apply remediation recommendations.

Desired Profile

Graduate in IT or Computer Networks or equivalent.

4 to 6 years of experience in network and security operations.

Strong working knowledge of FortiGate firewalls and Cisco switching/routing.

Good understanding of VPNs, IPS/IDS, and content or web filtering technologies.

Familiarity with NMS tools such as PRTG, Zabbix, or SolarWinds.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in enterprise network environments.
