About the job:

The Salesforce DevOps Lead is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a robust DevOps framework across multiple Salesforce environments. This role ensures smooth, automated, and reliable deployment of both metadata and configuration data for complex Salesforce implementations (including CPQ, Revenue Cloud, and custom modules).

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of Salesforce architecture, CI/CD pipelines, environment strategy, version control, and release governance — with extensive experience using Gearset or similar DevOps automation tools.

Key Responsibilities

DevOps Strategy & Governance

  • Define and manage Salesforce DevOps strategy, ensuring scalable and compliant CI/CD processes across multiple sandboxes and production orgs.
  • Establish branching, version control, and environment management standards (GitFlow, branching strategy, release naming conventions).

  • Collaborate with Architecture and PMO teams to align deployment cadence with release schedules.

CI/CD Pipeline Management

  • Build, maintain, and optimise automated CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce metadata and configuration data.
  • Implement DevOps workflows using Gearset, Copado, or Flosum, integrated with Git repositories (Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab)
  • Configure automated validation, regression testing, and rollback mechanisms for reliable deployments.

Deployment Management

  • Plan and execute metadata (Apex, LWC, Flows, Permission Sets, etc.) and data (Reference Data, CPQ Configuration, Pricing, etc.) deployment

  • Perform impact analysis, conflict resolution, and post-deployment validation.

  • Develop deployment checklists and automate pre-/post-deployment steps (data loads, permission setup, environment seeding).

Environment & Release Operations

  • Manage environment strategy across dev, QA, UAT, and production orgs.
  • Monitor and maintain deployment logs, audit trails, and change management compliance.
  • Partner with Salesforce Admins and Architects to optimise environment refresh and data replication processes.

Tooling & Automation

  • Administer and extend Gearset (pipelines, jobs, monitoring, backup).
  • Implement automation scripts using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps for continuous delivery.
  • Introduce improvements in DevOps automation, code quality, and deployment reliability.

Mentorship & Collaboration

  • Mentor junior DevOps and admin team members in deployment best practices.
  • Work closely with Technical Architects, Developers, QA, and Project Managers to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge base and enablement of DevOps practices across projects.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 6+ years in Salesforce ecosystem (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, CPQ/Revenue Cloud, or Industry Cloud).
  • Strong proficiency in Gearset or other devops tools, Git (Bitbucket/GitHub), and CI/CD orchestration (Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
  • Proven experience with metadata and data deployments (CPQ, Product Catalog, Price Rules, Decision Tables, etc.).
  • Experience in shell scripting, JSON/YAML, or API automation for deployment and validation tasks.
  • Hands-on with Git branching, merge conflict resolution, and commit best practices.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery, Jira/Confluence, and change control processes.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills; proactive mindset with attention to detail.
