QA Engineer – Python | Energy Storage / BMS

About the Role

Fluence is seeking a talented QA Engineer with strong Python development skills and a background in Battery Management Systems (BMS) or automotive software testing. In this role, you will contribute to the validation and quality assurance of software powering Fluence's advanced grid-scale energy storage and control solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute Python-based automated tests to validate embedded and application-level software.
  • Test and verify battery management, control algorithms, and system integration for energy storage solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test requirements, acceptance criteria, and system validation strategies.
  • Create and execute test plans, procedures, and cases to ensure compliance with product and safety requirements.
  • Track and manage defects using JIRA, and maintain structured documentation in Testrail or similar tools.
  • Support continuous integration and automated test frameworks for scalable testing.
  • Apply BMS/automotive best practices to grid-scale energy storage systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of QA/software testing experience in BMS, automotive, or energy storage domains.
  • Strong Python programming experience for test automation.
  • Hands-on experience testing control algorithms, embedded systems, and real-time applications.
  • Familiarity with industrial/automotive protocols (CAN, Modbus TCP, DNP3, IEC
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum, JIRA, Testrail, GitHub, Jenkins (or equivalents).

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of power generation, grid systems, or large-scale energy storage.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink model-based testing.
  • Understanding of ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or other safety standards.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Docker, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
