Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented, technically strong, and quality-focused Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our QA team. This role bridges software development and testing, focusing on the design, development, and maintenance of automation frameworks, API testing, backend validation, security testing, and performance analysis.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in test automation, Agile methodology, and project management tools like Jira or similar systems, ensuring comprehensive end-to-end application quality for web and mobile platforms.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, IT, BCA/MCA or related field

Strong academic background in programming, algorithms, and software engineering

Skills Competencies

Programming Languages

Proficient in Java or Python (or similar object-oriented languages such as C# or JavaScript) for developing and maintaining automation frameworks.

Automation Frameworks & Tools

Hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver (or similar tools like Cypress, Playwright) for web automation.

Exposure to Appium (or similar tools like Espresso, XCUITest) for mobile application automation.

Familiar with TestNG, JUnit, or PyTest (or similar test frameworks) for structured test execution and reporting.

Knowledge of Maven or Gradle (or similar build automation tools) for dependency management.

API Testing

Expertise in Postman (or similar API tools like Insomnia, SoapUI) for manual and automated API validation.

Experience using RestAssured (or similar libraries like Karate, HTTPClient) for automation of RESTful services.

Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, and XML data formats.

Backend Validation

Proficient in SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL) (or similar relational databases) and MongoDB (or similar NoSQL databases) for backend validation and data consistency checks.

Ability to write CRUD, JOIN, and aggregate queries for data verification.

Performance Testing

Exposure to Apache JMeter (or similar tools like LoadRunner, Gatling, BlazeMeter) for load, stress, and performance testing.

Understanding of performance metrics such as latency, throughput, and response time.

Security Testing

Basic knowledge of security testing principles and OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities.

Familiarity with Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP, (or similar security tools) for application and API-level vulnerability assessment.

Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)

Hands-on with Git (GitHub, GitLab, or similar version control systems) for source management.

Experience with Jenkins (or similar CI/CD tools like Bamboo, CircleCI, GitHub Actions) for automated build and test pipelines.

Project Management & Collaboration Tools

Proficient in Jira (or similar project management tools like Azure DevOps, Trello, or Asana) for task tracking, sprint planning, and defect management.

Collaboration using Confluence, Slack, Microsoft Teams, (or similar communication platforms).

Testing Concepts

Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Defect Life Cycle.

Practical exposure to Functional, Integration, Regression, Smoke, Sanity, and UAT Testing.

Knowledge of test case design techniques like Boundary Value Analysis, Equivalence Partitioning, and Decision Table Testing.

Soft Skills

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional Agile teams.

Proactive in identifying improvements to automation processes and QA efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain automation test scripts for web, API, and mobile applications using Selenium, Appium, and RestAssured (or similar tools).

Conduct backend data validation using SQL and MongoDB queries (or equivalent databases).

Perform API testing via Postman (or similar tools) and integrate automated validations in CI/CD pipelines.

Execute performance testing using JMeter (or equivalent tools) to evaluate system scalability.

Conduct basic security testing using Burp Suite or OWASP ZAP (or equivalent tools).

Collaborate with development and product teams in Agile ceremonies such as stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

Use Jira (or similar project management tools) for test tracking, bug reporting, and progress monitoring.

Integrate and execute automated test suites through Jenkins (or equivalent CI/CD tools) for continuous quality feedback.

Generate comprehensive test reports, log defects, and ensure proper traceability and documentation.

Stay updated with the latest advancements in automation testing, mobile QA frameworks, performance engineering, and security testing practices.
