Job Title: AVP Risk Steward Oversight

Purpose of the role:

We are seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as an AVP, Risk Steward Oversight within Singapore Regulatory and Financial Crime Compliance Risk Steward Oversight team. The role will drive effective and consistent risk stewardship across Singapore and providing consolidated oversight of the risk & control environment and risk appetite. Delivering analytical insights, themes and management information. Producing quality risk reports for senior management. Providing timely advice and support across Singapore market. Actively explore opportunities to uplift frameworks and processes.

In this role, you will:

The role holder will carry out activities that will include most of the following, but not limited to:

Responsible for consolidation and analysis of dashboards and key management information producing insightful high quality analytical reports. Responsible for the creation of high-quality risk papers ensuring complete and accurate insights.Support the embedment of effective risk stewardship and related responsibities across the region including the ongoing monitoring of frameworks, procedures, processes and practices.Provide timely advice and guidance related to relevant policies, procedures, processes to risk stewardsOversee local compliance to the Risk Management Framework and associated Risk Steward responsibilities.Support projects, initiatives, and training.

Customer / Stakeholders

Lead / liaise with relevant stakeholder within global / regional / local country teams to provide expertise and support on all risk stewardship related matters.Ensure that appropriate, timely and relevant risk information is provided to stakeholders and Risk Management forums.Develop and maintain a strong and professional working relationship with relevant stakeholders within Risk and Compliance at regional and market levels.

Leadership and Teamwork

Share best practice within teams in the regions and markets.Maintain and develop positive and professional working relationships with senior business managers at the regional and market levels. Lead by example, demonstrating excellent behaviours in line with HSBC core values.Work effectively as part of a team, taking the lead where appropriate and contributing to team output and collaboration.Foster a learning agile culture, promoting proactive review of lessons learned.Support an inclusive environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand. Operational Effectiveness and Control

Resolve any identified issues promptly, and escalate concerns to management as appropriate to ensure timely awareness of any material concerns.Maintain and observe all HSBC control standards.Maintain awareness of operational risk within assigned portfolio and minimise the likelihood of it occurring including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting.Ability to clearly identify risks and provide necessary analysis, advice, solutions and support.Ability to deal with Senior Management and lines of business in a professional and proactive manner.

Management of Risk

The management of risks is an integral part of the role profile. This role will continually reassess the risks inherent by taking account of changing policies, procedures, NFR framework, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of risk occurring and by addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and / or the appropriate department.

Major Challenges

The incumbent is required to ensure the consistent application of the highest risk management standards, notwithstanding the complexities of business operations across Singapore. The incumbent would identify, plan and implement improvements to ensure that HSBC remains in line with regulatory requirements across the group.This role also needs to operate within a matrix environment, requiring strong leadership skills to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and deliver results. The role holder must be able to influence senior management and articulate clear business reasons for change initiatives, within the scope of this role.To drive change in culture with respect to the management of risk, in accordance with the three lines of defence model. To manage the inter-linked and competing demands of developing, implementing and improving strategic systems and controls, whilst also providing for adequate commercial view and balance.

To be successful you will:

Demonstrated experience in Compliance risk management advisory or Risk function.Knowledge of Compliance related risk in the financial services industry. Interpersonal skills (i.e., collaboration and networking) with experience of dealing with stakeholders including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management.Excellent communication (oral and presentational) with exceptional writing skills and the ability to render complex concepts into well drafted reports.Proven analytical skills and translating analysis into strategic requirements. With experience of interpreting and analysing a large volume of information and / or data and provide succinct summary for management. Demonstrated experience of using Helios / Dashboard tools and assessment of the Risk and Control environment.Ability to lead change, contributing to joining up with the other teams in Risk and Compliance and line of business and functions.Ability to work independently on distinct tasks, escalating as appropriate.Effective time management & prioritisation skills with an ability to prioritise competing demands and deliver against stringent deadlinesKnowledge in MS Office Suite, MS PowerPoint & Excel is mandatoryExperience contributing to the implementation and monitoring of policies, governance frameworks, procedures, practices, and standards preferred.
