Role: CCM Risk Steward

Opportunity:

The CCM Risk steward has a number of responsibilities:

• To provide a common WCRM focused co-ordination point across all Value Streams that impact CCM, with particular focus given to the CCM Sub Value Stream and Enabler components.
• To work closely with and support the WCRM Senior Leads in their oversight of key CCM workstreams (including OKR setting, remediation funding requests, escalations to GCCO of any concerns / issues).
• To act as SME on key design / working group initiatives providing valuable insight into WCRM's strategic vision and priorities.
• To ensure that the WCRM strategic approach is fully aligned and (where appropriate) mapped to supporting activity within the corresponding Value Streams
• To represent the WCRM function within the CCM VS and to ensure that the WCRM Management team are fully informed of progress against Value Stream and Sub Value stream outcomes.
• To be a conduit between the various SVS and Enablers to ensure that Risk and Issues are effectively escalated to the appropriate Risk forums in a timely manner, leading on the preparation of relevant papers where required.
• To be the point of contact for Audit and the WCRM heads for any queries related to Value Streams impacting CCM

What you'll do:

Impact on the Business / Function:

• Evaluate all Value Streams impacting WCRM to identify potential risks and ensure they are adequately management and understood.
• Challenge existing processes and decisions to ensure they align with WCRM risk appetite and strategic objectives
• Work with Businesses, CCM value stream and other teams in WCRM to connect the details across various data points, Sub Value Streams, other workstreams and business decisions to confirm the right actions are being taken.

Typical Targets and Measures:

• Act as key point of contact on design decisions that impact the global WCRM vision.
• Risks and Issues raised in a timely manner.
• Prepare and present papers for the WCRM Exco, highlighting concerns or issues for discussion in a concise and timely manner
• Progress of delivery in line with OKR targets.

Customers / Stakeholders:

• Ensuring Businesses understand, accept, and implement corporate credit policies and incorporate risk issues as integral to Business activities.
• Ensuring that business vision, strategies, goals and actions being implemented by the Value Streams (in particular, the CCM VS) that may impact WCRM approach to Credit Risk Management are fully understood and supported by WCRM Management.
• Identify any conflict of approach between WCRM vision and the CCM VS and escalate as necessary to reach an aligned view.

Operational Effectiveness & Control:

• Maintain HSBC's internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy and maintain awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of any lapses occurring.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory requirement and provide advice to regulators and credit matters.
• Encourage efficient and streamlined credit processes, including providing guidance & contribution to risk rating frameworks / scorecards built in conjunction with Global / Regional / other site Risk functions.
• Improve risk processes with the objective to reduce bureaucracy without compromising on controls.
• Credit systems – Contribute to implementation / upgrade / maintenance where necessary.
• Accurate and complete documentation and reliable quality control procedures for critical methodologies and processes to ensure operational control.

Typical Targets and Measures:

• Adoption of guidelines and processes by Corporate Approval team.
• Improved processes related to approvals, SCU, controls & monitoring; tailored risk systems and scorecards to support different segments where applicable.
• Achievement of Satisfactory or better internal audit classifications.
• Maintain and ensure due observance of HSBC Internal Control Standards, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators. Ensure awareness of compliance requirements and implementation of Group Compliance Policy. Maintain awareness of operational risk including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting in accordance with Group Operations FIM.

To be Successful ,you will

• Become a valued and credible point of contact on strategic transformation discussions for the Business as well as GCCO and the WCRM ExCo / WCRM Senior Leads.
• Build and maintain a strong network of Wholesale Credit Risk Management specialists around the group – this should extend to WCRM systems, processes and procedures.
