Job Purpose

To lead, plan, and execute the development of new stationery products from concept to market launch. This includes aligning with strategic goals, consumer requirements, and profitability objectives while ensuring innovation, quality, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Strategy & Planning

  • Identify and evaluate market opportunities for new stationery products based on consumer trends, competitor analysis, and customer insights.
  • Define product roadmaps, timelines, and priorities aligned with business objectives.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis for new product concepts.

New Product Development

  • Lead the design, prototyping, and testing of stationery products (e.g., notebooks, pens, art supplies, files).
  • Ensure product development meets quality, cost, and sustainability goals.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with design, production, procurement, and quality teams.
  • Prepare and monitor project budgets and timelines.

Market & Customer Analysis

  • Translate customer needs and market gaps into product specifications.
  • Conduct customer/user trials and integrate feedback to refine products before launch.

Supplier & Material Coordination

  • Work with suppliers to identify, test, and approve new raw materials and components (plastics, paper, adhesives, inks, packaging).
  • Collaborate with procurement for cost negotiations and sourcing strategies.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and stationery industry standards (IS, ASTM, EN, etc.).
  • Maintain detailed documentation: BOMs, technical specs, test reports, and work instructions.

Product Launch & Support

  • Oversee pilot runs and scale-up to commercial production.
  • Support sales and marketing with technical product knowledge, training, and launch materials.

Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor post-launch product performance and implement enhancements.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, material optimization, and process improvements.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of product design, materials, and manufacturing processes relevant to stationery.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, etc.).
  • Project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical ability in market research and consumer insights.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Creative yet practical approach to balancing innovation, cost, and manufacturability.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design, or Packaging Technology (Master's preferred).
  • 5–8 years of experience in new product development, ideally in stationery, polymer or manufacturing.
  • Proven track record of managing concept-to-launch product cycles.

  • Achievement of target margins and cost efficiencies.
  • Customer satisfaction and market feedback.
  • Reduction in product development cycle time.
