About The Team
The Staff Consulting Architect role will be part of the Professional Services team at Nutanix, located in Bangalore. This team is dedicated to delivering exceptional customer experiences by providing innovative solutions focused on database lifecycle management and virtualization. The mission of the Professional Services team is to ensure successful deployments and optimizations for Nutanix's database service platforms, ultimately enhancing business outcomes for clients through automation and efficiency.

You will report to the Senior Director of Professional Services, who is known for a leadership style that emphasizes empowerment and mentorship, fostering an atmosphere of continuous learning and professional growth. The work setup for this role is hybrid, requiring occasional in-office presence to facilitate collaboration and client engagements, while also allowing for flexibility in remote work. The exact number of days in the office will be determined based on project needs and team activities.

This role involves approximately 15% travel, which may include trips to client locations for project kick-offs, deployments, or workshops. This travel is essential for understanding client environments and ensuring successful implementations of Nutanix solutions.

Your Role

• Design and implement database service platforms leveraging automation and virtualization technologies.
• Lead database migration projects, ensuring minimal downtime and effective resource utilization.
• Manage the lifecycle of database services, including backup, restore, scaling, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate database solutions with infrastructure layers and automation frameworks.
• Develop scripts and workflows to automate database lifecycle operations for improved efficiency.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members in database modernization and automation best practices.
• Establish blueprints and templates for consistent database provisioning and lifecycle management.
• Monitor platform health and performance, driving continuous improvements based on analytics and feedback.

What You Will Bring

• 10+ years of experience in database administration and infrastructure engineering.
• Strong understanding of virtualization and cloud platforms (e.g., Nutanix AHV, VMware vSphere).
• Proven experience in database design, deployment, and migration for major RDBMSs (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Familiarity with automation frameworks—API integration, PowerShell, Ansible, or Terraform.
• Hands-on experience with snapshot, clone, and time-machine technologies for database environments.
• Excellent client-facing consulting and communication skills.
• Ability to lead workshops and mentor teams on database modernization and automation.
• Relevant certifications (preferred): Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified, VMware Certified Professional.
• Willing to work in the US time zone.

Work Arrangement

Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. Most roles, like this one, that will mean coming into an office a minimum of 3 days per week, however flexibility is expected when situation arises for additional face time in the office. For example for project meetings, customer meetings, training, etc. 25-50% Travel is expected across major cities in India.
