Job Purpose:

The Procurement Head will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective sourcing, timely availability of veterinary supplies, equipment, pharmaceuticals, and other essentials. This role ensures smooth supply chain operations while maintaining quality standards and vendor relationships to support the companys clinical and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management:

  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with reliable suppliers for veterinary medicines, equipment, consumables, and other clinic requirements.

  • Develop long-term partnerships with vendors ensuring quality, cost-efficiency, and timely deliveries.

  • Procurement Planning & Budgeting:

  • Forecast material requirements based on clinic demand and seasonal variations.

  • Prepare annual procurement budgets and ensure adherence to cost-saving goals.

  • Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination:

  • Coordinate with clinics, warehouses, and operations teams for timely replenishment of stocks.

  • Optimize inventory levels to minimize wastage and stockouts.

  • Compliance & Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure procurement activities comply with regulatory guidelines, internal policies, and quality standards.

  • Regularly review supplier performance and implement corrective actions if required.

  • Process Improvement & Reporting:

  • Implement procurement automation tools and best practices for efficiency.

  • Generate periodic procurement reports for management review.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
  • Knowledge of veterinary products and supply chain operations (preferred)
  • Budgeting and cost analysis expertise
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Proficiency in ERP / procurement software

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management / Business Administration / Veterinary Sciences (preferred)
  • Master's degree or MBA in Procurement / Operations will be an added advantage
  • 8–12 years of experience in procurement, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role
  • Experience in healthcare, veterinary, or pharmaceutical procurement will be preferred
