mPages Developer (Cerner MPages Developer)

Job Summary:

The mPages Developer specializes in creating and customizing MPages, which are Cerners modular, web-technology based components within PowerChart. This role blends clinical understanding with web development skills to build intuitive clinician-facing pages that aggregate data and streamline workflows. The developer will use technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript and the Cerner MPages frameworks to tailor the user interface for clients for example, building custom dashboards, interactive patient summaries, or multi-source clinical views. the MPages Developer ensures that custom pages enhance usability for clinicians (often multi-lingual contexts), and aligns them with regional workflows (such as bilingual displays or region-specific forms).

Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  • Design and develop custom MPages solutions within Cerner Millennium to present clinical data in user-friendly, consolidated views. Examples include custom patient summary screens, department-specific dashboards, or enhancements to existing Cerner workflows via MPages.
  • Leverage web development skills (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS) in conjunction with Cerners MPages APIs and FHIR/REST data access where applicable, to build interactive components that retrieve and display data from the Cerner backend.
  • Collaborate with clinicians (doctors, nurses, pharmacists) to gather requirements for UI improvements understanding their workflow pain points and translating them into technical designs. This often involves iterative prototyping and feedback sessions with end-users to ensure the MPage meets clinical needs and is intuitive.
  • Integrate MPage components seamlessly into the Cerner workflow: ensure the custom pages launch contextually (e.g., within a patient chart or device), and that data presented is real-time and accurate. Also ensure MPages comply with user access rights (security) and performance standards.
  • Test and debug MPages across different scenarios and user roles. Ensure cross-browser compatibility within the Cerner environment (if applicable) and that pages load efficiently without errors.
  • Work with the Cerner technical toolkit for MPages (including any specific IDE or libraries Cerner provides) and possibly incorporate CCL or FHIR queries on the backend if needed for data retrieval, adhering to best practices for safe read-only access.
  • Documentation & Training: Prepare technical documentation for each custom MPage (design, code, installation steps) and brief the application support teams on their usage and any maintenance required. May also assist in training super-users or support analysts on the features of the new pages.
  • Adhere to Cerner development standards and naming conventions to ensure that custom MPages do not hinder system upgrades or vendor support. This includes collaborating with CernerWorks or Oracle Health (as needed) when deploying these custom solutions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in Cerner MPages development or related web development. Must have strong programming skills in JavaScript, HTML, CSS and be familiar with web services (REST APIs, JSON) to integrate data.
  • Proven experience building or customizing MPages in a Cerner Millennium environment. Understanding of Cerner's MPages architecture (including MPages 2.0+ if relevant) and how to use Discern Explorer or related tools to embed MPages in the workflow.
  • Basic proficiency in Cerner CCL and Millennium data retrieval is a plus, as MPages often require linking to CCL data sources or utilizing Cerner's data models.
  • Understanding of HL7 and FHIR standards is beneficial – while MPages are front-end, knowledge of these standards helps in understanding data flows and possibly using FHIR APIs for pulling data.
  • Excellent problem-solving and UI/UX skills: ability to design interfaces that are not only functional but also improve the ease of use for clinicians. Attention to detail in layout and data presentation is crucial.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills: able to work closely with clinicians and translate their needs into technical requirements, and capable of explaining technical constraints or proposing alternative solutions in a clear manner.
  • Experience delivering solutions for Middle East healthcare settings is a plus – e.g., building bilingual English/Arabic interface elements, accommodating right-to-left text if needed, or customizing content to reflect local clinical practices.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required
  • Ability to work during Gulf Standard Time to synchronize with client teams. Proven track record supporting or implementing Cerner at Middle East.
  • Willingness to travel on-site when needed for critical project phases (e.g., go-live, intensive integration testing), while primarily delivering services remotely. Travel expenses will be covered by the company.
  • Comfortable in an offshore delivery environment: self-motivated and disciplined to deliver code remotely, with the flexibility to travel to client site in the Middle East on occasion if critical for requirements gathering or deployment support.

***This is a remote role. Location mentioned is system-generated.***

***Base location is flexible and aligned with Gulf Standard Time.***
