Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced 
Senior BMS Engineer

with strong expertise in designing, developing, and validating Battery Management Systems for Lithium-ion battery packs and large-scale Energy Storage Systems. The ideal candidate will play a key role in advancing our battery technology, architecture, safety algorithms, diagnostics, and system integration. 

Key Responsibilities:

1. BMS Architecture & Design

  • Lead the design and development of BMS architecture for Lithium-ion battery packs (EV, ESS, Industrial).
  • Define hardware, software, and control strategies for cell monitoring, protection, and system-level operations.
  • Work on system modeling, SOC, SOH, SOP estimation algorithms.

2. Algorithm Development

  • Develop and optimize algorithms including:
  • State of Charge (SOC) estimation
  • State of Health (SOH) estimation
  • Cell balancing (active/passive)
  • Thermal management
  • Fault detection & diagnostics
  • Validate algorithms using lab data, simulations, and real-time test cases.

3. Hardware & Firmware Integration

  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to finalize PCB schematics, component selection, and hardware specifications.
  • Integrate firmware with BMS hardware modules and ensure stable communication across the system.
  • Work with microcontrollers, ADCs, memory modules, and gate drivers used in BMS systems.

4. Communication Protocols

  • Implement and validate communication interfaces:
  • CAN, CANOpen, J1939
  • Modbus, RS485
  • UART, SPI, I2C
  • Work with cloud and gateway integration for remote diagnostics (optional).

5. Testing & Validation

  • Develop validation plans for BMS functionality and reliability testing.
  • Work with battery cyclers, load banks, thermal chambers, and HIL setups.
  • Analyze test results and troubleshoot cell/battery behavior, hardware anomalies, and firmware issues.

6. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with global standards:
  • IEC 62619, UL 1973, UL 2580
  • ISO Functional Safety)
  • Conduct FMEA/SFMEA, hazard analysis, and safety reviews.

7. Documentation & Collaboration

  • Prepare technical documentation, system specifications, and test reports.
  • Work cross-functionally with product, hardware, firmware, and QA teams.
  • Support production teams during prototype build, testing, and certification.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in BMS development for Lithium-ion batteries.
  • Strong knowledge of Li-ion cell chemistry, battery pack design, and safety mechanisms.
  • Expertise in C/C++ embedded programming and real-time systems.
  • Advanced experience in SOC/SOH algorithm development and validation.
  • Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics.
  • Proficiency with battery testing tools and cyclers.
  • Experience with modeling tools like MATLAB/Simulink (preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Embedded Systems, Energy Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in Energy Storage Systems (ESS), EV battery packs, or hybrid applications.
  • Experience with cloud connectivity and IoT-based battery monitoring.
  • Experience leading engineering teams or projects.
