We are looking for experienced SAP consultant who can bridge SAP and modern analytics platforms. This role focuses on unlocking SAP ECC/S4 data, decoding business logic, and preparing business-ready datasets for cloud platforms such as Databricks.

This is not an SAP implementation/configuration role.

The ideal candidate understands SAP tables, Z logic, and BW objects and can translate complex SAP concepts into simple, usable data for data engineers, analysts, and data scientists

Key Responsibilities

  • Extract data from SAP ECC/S4 core and custom tables (e.g., VBRK, VBAP, BKPF, MATDOC) and deliver in CSV, Excel, or cloud-ready formats.
  • Use SQL (mandatory) and Python (preferred) for querying, transformations, and preparation.
    • Work with BW/4HANA objects like aDSOs, CompositeProviders, and Open ODS Views to model ERP data (sales, inventory, finance, etc.).
  • Handle delta vs full loads, optimize extraction performance, and ensure data integrity.
  • Reverse-engineer undocumented transformations, ABAP routines, or function modules to understand derivations.
  • Decode how key fields (e.g., order quantity, discounts, pricing logic) are calculated.

  • Validate data against source transactions and base tables; ensure accuracy and traceability.
  • Prepare and stage SAP data for downstream analytics in platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, or Azure data lakes.
  • Leverage ODP extractors, APIs, SAP DataSphere, or other integration methods.

  • Collaborate closely with data engineering teams for seamless ingestion and availability.
    •
  • Act as the bridge between SAP and analytics teams — simplifying SAP logic for non-SAP stakeholders.
  • Document table structures, field mappings, business logic, and transformation rules.
  • Provide clear data lineage and KPI definitions for reproducibility and explainability.
  • Support ECC → S4HANA migration use cases, understanding key differences in table structures and reporting.
  • Optimize process chains, query performance, and ETL processes where applicable.

Required Skills and Experience

  • SAP Expertise: Hands-on with SAP ECC & S4 HANA tables, Z tables, BAPIs, BW/4HANA, extractors
  • ABAP / Reverse Engineering: Debugging routines, Function Modules, transformation rules

  • SQL / Python: Strong SQL skills mandatory; Python preferred for automation
  • BW Objects & ETL: aDSOs, CompositeProviders, Open ODS Views, BW ETL processes
    •
  • Integration: ODP extractors, SDI/SDQ, SAP DataSphere, Azure, cloud-based staging
    •
  • Analytics Platform Awareness: Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI (awareness or hands-on)
    •
  • Communication & Documentation: Ability to explain SAP concepts clearly to non-SAP teams
  • Problem Solving: Reverse-engineer undocumented logic, trace data lineage
  • Business Process Knowledge: Familiarity with SD, MM, FI modules (especially supply chain or retail)

Good to have skills

  • Experience supporting ECC → S4HANA migration projects.
  • Familiarity with ML/AI use cases and preparing SAP data for modelling.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing, metadata management, and lineage tools.
  • Exposure to SAP Analytics Cloud or other BI platforms.
