SAP ABAP/HANA Consultant

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and Development : Design, develop, and implement complex custom SAP ABAP programs, including reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, and workflows (RICEF/RICEFW) with a focus on ABAP on HANA/S/4HANA.

- HANA Optimization : Utilize modern ABAP techniques for HANA optimization, including Core Data Services (CDS) views, AMDP (ABAP Managed Database Procedures), and native SQL.

- Integration : Develop and consume OData Services using SAP Gateway to enable front-end applications (like SAP Fiori/UI5) and integrate SAP with external systems.

- Technical Specification : Translate complex business requirements and functional specifications into detailed technical designs and documentation.

- Performance Tuning : Perform performance tuning and optimization of existing and new ABAP code to leverage the in-memory capabilities of the HANA database.

- Support & Maintenance : Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and bug-fixing for existing SAP applications and custom developments.

- Quality Assurance : Adhere to established coding standards, conduct unit testing, integration testing, and participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables.

- Collaboration : Collaborate effectively with functional consultants, business analysts, and cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.

- Mentorship : (For candidates with 8 years experience) Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.

Must-Have Skills Years) :

- Proficiency in SAP ABAP Development for HANA/S/4HANA : Extensive experience with the ABAP programming language, including Object-Oriented ABAP (OOABAP). Modern ABAP on HANA : Hands-on expertise in CDS Views (Creation, Extension, Annotations) and AMDP.

- Data Migration & Interfaces : Strong experience with RICEF/RICEFW objects, including Interfaces (IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs) and classical data migration techniques (BDC, LSMW, etc.).

- Database Understanding : Deep understanding of the SAP HANA database architecture and principles of code-to-data and data-to-code paradigms.

- Project Experience : Involvement in at least 2 full lifecycle SAP Implementation projects, preferably including an S/4HANA implementation or conversion.

Good-to-Have Skills :

- Front-End Technologies : Experience with SAP Fiori and SAP UI5 development, including extension and customization of standard Fiori apps and building custom applications.

- Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) : Strong understanding of ALM processes, including SAP Solution Manager, ChaRM, and code management tools like Git for ABAP.

- Performance Expertise : Proven experience in advanced performance tuning and optimization of SAP applications using tools like SQL Trace (ST05), Code Inspector (SCI), and Runtime Analysis (SE30).

- Methodology : Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).

- Restful ABAP : Knowledge of the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP) for cloud and S/4HANA development.

- Functional Knowledge : Basic to good understanding of SAP business processes and data structures in core modules like SD, MM, FI/CO.

Qualifications :

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

- Relevant SAP certifications (e.g., SAP Certified Development Associate ABAP for SAP HANA) are a plus.
