Sr. Production cum Quality Engineer – Paint Technologist

Location:

Visiontech Engineering Pvt. Ltd., Khalumbre, Pune

Department:

Production & Quality – Paint Shop

Reporting To:

Plant Head / Manager – Production & Quality

Job Purpose:

To lead production and quality activities in the Paint shop, ensuring optimum utilization of resources, adherence to paint technology standards, defect-free output, and continuous improvement in processes to meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Responsibilities:

§ Plan, monitor, and control daily paint shop operations to achieve production targets.

§ Ensure adherence to process parameters for painting (primer, topcoat, curing, etc.) as per customer specifications.

§ Optimize material usage, minimize wastage of paint, thinners, and consumables.

§ Implement TPM / 5S / Kaizen practices in paint shop for better efficiency.

§ Coordinate with Maintenance for upkeep of paint booths, ovens, conveyors, and robotic/manual spray systems.

Quality Responsibilities:

§ Monitor and control paint defects (orange peel, runs, shade variation, pinholes, peel-off, etc.) and implement corrective & preventive actions.

§ Conduct quality checks at each stage of painting and ensure compliance with quality standards (surface prep, DFT, gloss, adhesion, salt spray test, etc.).

§ Handle customer complaints related to paint quality and implement root cause analysis.

§ Maintain records of process audits, line audits, and test reports.

§ Paint Technology / Process Improvement:

§ Develop & validate new paint formulations, shades, and application techniques with suppliers.

§ Standardize paint shop processes to meet OEM / Tier-1 customer requirements.

§ Train operators on paint technology, defect identification, and quality standards.

§ Drive continuous improvement projects for cycle time reduction, energy saving, and cost control.

Key Result Areas (KRA):

§ Achieving daily/weekly/monthly paint shop production targets.

§ Maintaining First Pass Yield (FPY) above defined standards.

§ Reduction of paint defects / rejections / rework.

§ Cost optimization in paint consumption and energy usage.

§ Zero customer complaints related to paint quality.

Desired Candidate Profile:

Education:

B.E. / B. Tech / Diploma in Mechanical / Paint Technology / Chemical Engineering.

Experience:

5 to 8 years of experience in automotive / engineering paint shop (preferably in powder coating, wet painting, or surface treatment).

Technical Skills:

§ Strong knowledge of paint application methods (manual & robotic), pre-treatment processes, and curing techniques.

§ Hands-on experience in paint defect analysis and troubleshooting.

§ Knowledge of paint shop equipment: spray guns, booths, ovens, conveyors, compressors.

§ Understanding of ISO/TS 16949, IATF 16949, EMS, and customer audit requirements.

Salary Range k to 45000k Gross / pm
