Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain relational database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
  • Design and administer database clustering and high-availability solutions (e.g., MySQL Replication, or Percona).
  • Monitor and optimize database performance using built-in and third-party tools.
  • Analyze SQL logs and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize queries, and detect anomalies or security concerns.
  • Develop, implement, and routinely test robust backup, restore, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Configure and manage replication, failover mechanisms, and load balancing where required.
  • Automate common tasks through scripting (e.g., Shell, Python).
  • Support database design, tuning, and indexing to improve performance and efficiency.
  • Document database systems, procedures, and configuration changes.
  • Perform database migrations, patching, and version upgrades.
