EMV Level 3

Position Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented EMV Level 3 (L3) Test Engineer to join our EMV certification and compliance team. The candidate will be responsible for executing and managing L3 testing and validation of POS terminals, SoftPOS, ATMs, and other EMV payment devices as per network brand requirements (Visa, Mastercard, RuPay, Amex, Discover, JCB, UPI, etc.).

The role requires a strong understanding of EMV specifications, payment transaction flows, host simulations, and terminal certification processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute EMV Level 3 testing and certification activities for POS terminals, ATMs, and payment devices with various networks (Visa, Mastercard, RuPay, Amex, etc.).
• Prepare and maintain detailed test plans, test scripts, and test cases as per EMV L3 certification guidelines.
• Perform end-to-end transaction validation including authorization, decline, reversal, refund, and contactless scenarios.
• Configure and operate brand simulators such as
  UL Brand Test Tool, Collis, FIME, Mastercard Brand Test Tool (BTT), and Visa ADVT/ CDET
  .
• Analyze transaction logs, APDUs, and communication traces to identify compliance issues and ensure EMV protocol adherence.
• Work closely with development and QA teams to troubleshoot and resolve test failures, integration issues, or certification deviations.
• Collaborate with payment networks and acquirers to ensure successful completion of L3 certification cycles.
• Generate test summary reports, document certification results, and provide feedback to internal engineering teams for improvements.
• Stay updated with the latest EMVCo, PCI, and payment network specifications and certification updates.
• Participate in pre-certification, regression, and interoperability testing for new payment applications and firmware releases.

Required Skills & Technical Expertise

• Strong understanding of EMV standards (L1, L2, L3) and payment transaction flow.
• Hands-on experience with EMV test tools like UL Brand Test Tool, FIME, Collis, Visa ADVT, Mastercard BTT, and Discover DPAS.
• Familiarity with terminal applications, EMV kernels, and acquirer host testing.
• Proficient in analyzing transaction logs (APDU commands/responses) and debugging EMV or ISO8583 message exchanges.
• Experience in POS terminal or payment gateway testing, SoftPOS, or mobile payment applications preferred.
• Basic knowledge of ISO8583 messaging, contact and contactless protocols (NFC, RFID), and TCP/IP communication.
• Exposure to payment networks certification workflows (Visa, Mastercard, RuPay, Amex, etc.).
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills.
• Familiarity with Linux/Windows environments and test automation tools is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 4-6 years of experience in EMV Testing or Payment Application Testing (L2/L3 certification preferred).
• EMV or PCI certification knowledge will be considered an added advantage.
