Plastic Recycle Specialist

Location: MumbaiDepartment: Operations / Supply ChainReports To: Manager Job Summary:We are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Plastic Recycling Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in plastic waste management, recycling processes, and a deep understanding of different types of plastics and their recyclability.

Do:Lead Operations: Manage end-to-end plastic recycling processes — from waste collection to processing and output. Team Management: Supervise plant staff and ensure smooth day-to-day operations with high safety and quality standards. Material Expertise: Classify and oversee sorting of plastic types (PET, HDPE, LDPE, PP, etc.) for optimal recycling output.
Vendor Coordination: Work closely with vendors, suppliers, and third-party recyclers to ensure a steady flow of materials. Sustainability Focus: Drive initiatives that reduce environmental impact and improve material recovery rates. Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all recycling practices comply with local and national regulations.
Maintain accurate logs and reports. Continuous Improvement: Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements in equipment, manpower, and methodology. Requirements:Minimum 5 years of experience in plastic recycling, waste management, or a similar industry.
At least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory position, preferably in a plant or production environment. Deep understanding of plastic types, recycling grades, and processing methods (e.g., shredding, washing, pelletizing). Familiarity with recycling equipment and machinery (e.g., extruders, crushers, densifiers, etc.).
Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, health and safety standards, and industry compliance. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Comfortable working in a hands-on, operational role in industrial or semi-industrial settings.
Proficiency in reporting tools, Excel, and inventory/operations software. A degree in Environmental Science, Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or Waste Management is preferred. Preferred Skills:Familiarity with plastic shredders, extruders, or pelletizing machines.
Experience in supply chain coordination related to recycled materials. Data analysis and reporting skills for sustainability metrics.
