About The Role
We're building a high-performance, reliable, and seamless unattended POS (Point of Sale) application (for devices like IM30 and Adyen terminals). These devices will be deployed in unattended environments, where zero tolerance for system hangs, slow response times, or failed transactions is critical.

We're looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Embedded Payments Engineer who has hands-on experience building real-time transaction applications on secure hardware, preferably with deep familiarity in the Android-based platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust POS applications for Android-based unattended devices
  • Optimize app startup time, UI responsiveness, and system reliability under continuous operation.
  • Handle connectivity edge cases (network loss, terminal reset, slow TLS negotiation, etc.).
  • Build strong logging, crash recovery, and diagnostic mechanisms.
  • Rigorously test hardware-software interactions across a variety of real-world scenarios.

Required Skills

  • Strong Android application development (Java/Kotlin), preferably in embedded environments.
  • Experience working directly with devices like IM30 (or similar Android-based unattended terminals).
  • Proven hands-on experience with building POS payment device software
  • Solid grasp of asynchronous programming, memory management, and threading on resource-constrained devices.
  • Familiarity with serial, USB, and network communication with payment peripherals.
  • Strong understanding of secure payments, encryption, and certificate handling.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with OTA (over-the-air) updates and remote monitoring for unattended terminals.
  • Exposure to EMV, NFC/contactless, QR code, and barcode payment workflows.
  • Knowledge of watchdog timers, health checks, and process restarts.
  • Worked in a startup or fast-paced deployment-heavy environment.
  • Contributions to open-source Android system projects or payment stacks.
