Overview:

The Backup & Storage Specialist is responsible for the design, installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of backup and storage infrastructure across Xellia Data Centers and remote sites. This role ensures consistent data protection, disaster recovery, and compliance with quality and security standards. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of Veeam and TSM backup systems along with hands-on experience managing enterprise storage solutions, particularly IBM and NetApp. Familiarity with scripting and automation is essential.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field

  • Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) or Veeam Certified Architect (VMCA) preferred

Work Experience:

  • 10 to 12 years of experience in backup administration

  • Primary expertise in Veeam, with TSM (IBM Spectrum Protect) as a secondary skill

  • Hands-on experience with IBM and NetApp storage systems, including administration, provisioning, performance tuning, and troubleshooting

  • Working knowledge of SAN/NAS technologies, and Cloudian Hyperstore

  • Experience in capacity planning and infrastructure monitoring

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, manage, and monitor backup environments and disaster recovery strategies

  • Administer and optimize backup processes using Veeam and TSM

  • Manage tape libraries, off-site storage, file recovery, and backup job scheduling

  • Provide Level 3 support for backup and storage incidents

  • Perform daily health checks, resolve backup failures, and document resolutions

  • Configure and administer IBM and NetApp storage arrays and participate in performance tuning and capacity management

  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and storage teams to ensure seamless integration

  • Ensure compliance with GDPR, NIS2 and internal audit controls

  • Automate backup and storage tasks using scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash)

  • Document architecture, procedures, and troubleshooting guides

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong technical knowledge of Backup technologies like Veeam and TSM. Storage platforms IBM and NetApp.

  • Proficiency in storage provisioning, migration, Upgradation, snapshots, replication, and    retention policies

  • Good understanding of data protection regulations and compliance requirements

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
