Job Summary

As a Database Programmer specializing in Gen AI integrations, you will architect and maintain advanced database ecosystems that interact seamlessly with LLMs, vector databases, and MCP frameworks. You'll collaborate with AI engineers, DevOps, and product teams to ensure data consistency, contextual intelligence, and scalable AI-ready database design across Zato's compliance automation suite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain AI-integrated database systems that interface with MCPs, LLMs, and vector stores.
  • Build and optimize PostgreSQL and NoSQL data models for real-time AI inference and compliance workflows.
  • Architect and maintain context stores and embedding repositories for Gen AI-driven automation modules.
  • Implement data pipelines to feed structured and unstructured financial data into Gen AI reasoning systems.
  • Collaborate with AI and backend teams to ensure seamless contextual communication via Model Context Protocols (MCPs).
  • Develop and maintain database orchestration scripts for automation, versioning, and high-performance query handling.
  • Conduct data integrity audits, performance tuning, and query optimization across multi-environment deployments.
  • Design data lineage, retention, and governance policies aligned with NZ & AU accounting compliance standards.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and provide technical input on AI model data integration and security protocols.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging Gen AI data storage technologies, vector DB frameworks (e.g., Pinecone, Qdrant, Milvus), and context indexing methods.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in database programming, architecture, or engineering.
  • Advanced proficiency in PostgreSQL and familiarity with NoSQL systems (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra).
  • Hands-on experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Qdrant, Weaviate, FAISS, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of Model Context Protocols (MCPs) and their use in multi-agent or multi-model systems.
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/pgSQL, and database API integration for LLM/AI workflows.
  • Experience in database security, ETL pipelines, schema design, and data governance.
  • Familiarity with Gen AI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or OpenAI APIs).
  • Experience building context caching and retrieval pipelines for conversational AI or intelligent assistants.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native database services (AWS RDS, Aurora, Azure Cosmos DB, GCP Spanner).
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and analytical thinking skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in multi-LLM routing and orchestration (MoE or hybrid model systems).
  • Understanding of financial and accounting data structures (GL, trial balance, ledgers, transactions).
  • Exposure to NZ and AU accounting compliance and data privacy regulations (GDPR, SOC 2).

Knowledge of Python-based AI integration (FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, LangChain adapters).
