This is a hands-on position for a forward-thinking GIA manager who will deliver a portfolio of audits across BT Group, using their experience of financial, operational and technology controls to agree practical actions that will help BT to improve.

Alongside your audit work, you will have opportunities to work in small teams to deliver continuous improvement initiatives to ensure our team continues to grow - by leveraging data, evolving agile methodologies and reporting strategies etc.  This is a great opportunity to make a significant impact on GIA.

Key Responsibilities:

Making relationships across BT.  This includes gathering business insights to provide input to Group Internal Audit's annual plan and the scope of individual audits.Delivering end to end audits, working individually or as part of a team alongside other Internal Audit Managers.  Ensuring all audits are deliveredin a risk assessed, timely, and focused manner, utilising data analytics tools where appropriate.Monitoring the audit budget to minimise overruns and delays.Preparation of audit reports.Tracking agreed audit actions to ensure implementation is achieved against targets and that the remediation is effective.Providing input to the various management fora across BT such as production of papers for quarterly Audit and Risk Committees and other governance committees; attendance at assigned sessions with management.Contributing to initiatives underpinning the GIA strategy and objectives.Providing advice, coaching and mentoring to audit team members and direct reports where appropriate; sharing timely, insightful feedback to improve performance.Initial oversight and first level review of audit work papers prepared by individuals assigned to audit where acting as lead to ensure the work is of good quality and in accordance with the GIA Methodology.

Experience:

Experience of auditing in a complex, regulated business.Strong knowledge of controls across finance operations and technology.Experience of working with second line of defence assurance teams to align plans.Professional designation or sufficient professional experience of auditing that outweighs the need for this.  Professional qualifications include CIIA, CIA, CIMA, ACCA or ICAEW.In addition, experience of at least two of the following:
  • Internal control frameworks
  • Auditing complex contracts
  • Auditing in an engineering business
  • Auditing in a retail business
  • Auditing change
  • Using data analytics tools, including visualisation tools
  • Third party management
  • Agile ways of working
  • IT General Controls

Eligibility Criteria"Please note that as per the IJP guidelines for India, if you have an active PIP/Disciplinary sanctions then you cannot apply for a role internally for the duration of that sanction. In circumstances when you are in a disciplinary process but the outcome hasn't been reached or there is an active appeal then you can apply, however, the Offer could be withdrawn if, subsequently, you're issued with a sanction or your appeal is unsuccessful.
It is the responsibility of an applicant to not apply to IJP in case if they are on an active PIP/ Disciplinary case/ Warnings or sanction. If such an applicant is found to have applied for a role, then, strong disciplinary action will be taken against that applicant."

The Internal Audit Manager manages an Internal Audit team, directing high-quality and impactful audit risk assessment initiatives and evaluations.

What you'll be doing

1. Leads a team in driving a comprehensive audit programme across Group business units.
2. Manages audit consulting services to the Group's management and executives for specific business units.
3. Manages a team in collaboration efforts across Internal Audit, Risk, Business Assurance and Compliance in the development of the annual Group-wide risk assessment and audit plan.
4. Manages a team in the delivery of industry leading organisational and professional ethical standards.
5. Manages a team in the planning, organising, directing, and monitoring of Internal Audit operations in areas assigned.
6. Coordinates efforts to identify and evaluate the Group's risk areas and consults with the board level and executive level stakeholders in the development of the annual Group-wide risk assessment and audit plan.
7. Manages a team in the delivery of audit procedures, including identifying and defining issues, developing criteria, reviewing and analysing evidence, and documenting client processes and procedures.
8. Identifies training needs and facilitates training to Internal Audit team members in a variety of professional practice areas.
9. Champions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in Internal Audit.
10. Coaches talent, and manages others, to develop capabilities and ensure performance through upskilling, development and recruitment.
11. Implements ways to improve working processes within Internal Audit.
